Product Description Tired of moving every time her single mother has a failed romance, Holly Hamilton tries to find the perfect man for her. Genre: Feature Film Family Rating: PG Release Date: 23-MAY-2006 Media Type: DVD
Amazon.com One of Hilary Duff's most attractive qualities is that she's not a borderline anorexic like too many Hollywood starlets; she has a warm, full-bodied presence that makes her dangerously glossy prettiness accessible. Similarly, Heather Locklear--who's been an iconic plastic blonde on television for decades--is cultivating a bruised humanity as she matures. These two combine forces in The Perfect Man, a curious teen comedy/adult romance hybrid about a single mother named Jean (Locklear, Melrose Place) whose tactic for getting over a broken heart is to move to a different part of the country, uprooting her two daughters Holly and Zoe (Duff, Cheaper by the Dozen, and newcomer Aria Wallace) in the process. Holly, to keep her mother from falling into another desperate and doomed relationship, uses advice from a schoolfriend's uncle (Chris Noth, Sex and the City) to send Jean flowers and love letters from a secret admirer. Of course, sustaining this fantasy requires some wacky antics, but The Perfect Man balances goofiness with an emotional mother/daughter tug-of-war and has some entertaining supporting actors (including Caroline Rhea, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and Carson Kressley, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy). The plot, however, has holes so big that it collapses even as it unfolds. --Bret Fetzer

Cute chick flick January 11, 2010 J. Kennel (Terre Haute, IN USA) I like this movie--Heather Locklear and Hilary Duff are fun to watch as mother and daughter. This is a good movie for slumber parties--lots of teenage conniving and scheming that is funny and daring, not mean-spirited. Light movie to enjoy without analyzing too much.
could hear a pin drop July 29, 2009 Seeker of truth (Phoenix, AZ) I had seen this movie before. I walked into the waiting room for my MRI today, and you could hear a pin drop. There was a peremable silence, and I wondered what was going on. Then I saw the movie being played, and the attention of the people in the waiting room. The movie ended as I was filling out paperwork. I have never seen this reaction before. So...I ordered it from Amazon, and counted my lucky stars that it was still available. Good chic-flick, from what I remembered. I have never seen a movie not available anymore...weird. Glad I ordered, and can't believe the price I got.
the perfect man August 3, 2008 Maryse Malka This is a feel good movie, the only thing I have to say is they should have met sooner, I just feel a little robbed. They could have put the couple together a lot sooner, then just at the end of the movie, I sometimes feel like that is the mistake a lot of the movies make, other then that it would have gotten five stars.
I Loved It.... July 16, 2008 Butterfly Wings (USA) I so loved it, this movie has a lesson to be learned, and it was taught very well. I'm a huge fan of Hilary Duff, and her sister, and i think this movie was the bomb, off the hook. :)
Mermaids Redux February 3, 2008 M. R. Estante (North America) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very similar to the 1989 movie Mermaids with Cher and Winona Ryder. This teen romantic comedy stars the genetically blessed mother-daughter duo of Heather Locklear and Hillary Duff. Mom moves every time she breaks up with a guy and when the trio arrive in Brroklyn, Duff's character wants to stay now. Her and her new friend create a fake online beau for mom to stay in town until the gag goes out of hand. Turns out the friend's bachelor uncles is a perfect match for mom while a cute classmate jsut may be what the overprotective daughter needs. A cute comedy about playing around with match.com and how running away never solves your problems.
