Product Description Movie DVD
Amazon.com While the first season of The X-Files introduced us to Scully and Mulder, the second season finds the show confidently hitting its stride. Building on its earlier success, the show evolves, and in these 25 episodes, a glimpse is shown of a longer-running story line (which will continue through subsequent seasons) that is woven into the usual stand-alone episodes of the paranormal. These so-called mythology episodes hint at a global conspiracy involving sinister government agents, UFOs, alien abductions, genetic engineering, the ever-lurking Cigarette Smoking Man, and Fox Mulder's father. Season 2 fleshes out Mulder's family history, including the childhood abduction of his sister Samantha, an event that would shape him for life. Actress Gillian Anderson (Scully) became unexpectedly pregnant during season 2, but series creator Chris Carter managed to dance nimbly around her absence and even integrate it into the show. As in season 1, Mulder and Scully are surrounded by a strong supporting cast, which adds a suspicious new agent named Alex Krycek, an informant named X, and a seemingly indestructible alien bounty hunter. Among the standout episodes are "The Host," "Duane Barry/Ascension," "Humbug," "Dod Kalm," "Colony/End Game," and "Anasazi." These episodes are a powerful reminder that The X-Files, like no other show on television, can span horror, suspense, mystery, romance, drama, and comedy, sometimes all in the same episode, and always with the production values of a major feature film. --Eugene Wei

Worth it for Duane Barry alone December 30, 2009 Sam "Mayday" Malone (Rohan) 'THEY DRILLED HOLES IN MY TEETH!!!" That episode/character is hilarious and makes this set worth it. Seriously someone should make a t-shirt with that quote. This is the season where X-files became good. Season 1 was amateur hour in tv making.
X-files season 2 December 6, 2009 Old FIlm Watcher (Georgia) The writters have more dramatic stories, the actors improve their characters and story lines are good.
It's X-files December 1, 2009 Seth C. Howard (Apalachin,ny) IF you're an X-files fan , this is as the TV show . The series and movie are crafted in such away anyone can jump in and not be lost yet always enough action and tracks of plots for those following to easily enjoy 'what's next' as the entire flow continues and all pieces fit well . X-files brought 'metaphysics' to sci-fi . I'm not so sure that's good , but Chris Carter and crew did a great work overall . So , plop down your cash and enjoy .
We certainly recommend the movie as well . Many lines and pieces of Mulder's search fall in place , yet enough questions hanging to pique interest.
barbaraH October 5, 2009 Barbara L. Heck My order came faster than expected and was in great condition. I would definitely order from this company again.
"Trust No One..." July 17, 2009 Calvin W. Fergins (Seminary (outside of Philadelphia)) The dying words of Deep Throat to Mulder and Scully at the end of Season 1. Season 2 picks up with the X-Files closed, Mulder and Scully are reassigned to different parts of FBI but that doesn't stop them from still poking their noses where they don't belong. With Deep Throat dead a new voice from the shadows emerges to guide Agent Mulder, Mr. X. Unlike Deep Throat Mr. X is utterly ruthless and has no problem sacrificing Mulder if he gets in the way of his own agenda. Assistant Director Skinner comes into his role more as he must decide to either help Mulder and Scully or continue to be a puppet for those above him. And the Smoking Man steps a little closer into the light to reveal more of his sinister plans and methods. The plot thickens and the conspiracy gets more complicated than thought possible.
Season 2 is one of the best because of its balance of mythology and Monster of the Week episodes. There are plenty stand alone episodes to start novices off on. Season 2 also ventured out from SciFi into plain horror with such episodes as Die Hand Die Verletzt, Fresh Bones and The Calusari which deals with the occult and demonic.
Season 2 will keep newcomers happy without a doubt and bring back good memories for X-Philes.
