Product Description PSP CHICKEN LITTLE (BM)
Amazon.com A classic fable gets fused with War of the Worlds in Disney's Chicken Little. In the small town of Oakey Oaks, young Chicken Little (voiced by Zach Braff, Garden State) struggles to live down the embarrassment of having once thought the sky was falling. But when he gets struck again by a hexagonal, sky-camouflaged, hi-tech doohickey, he and his friends Ugly Duckling (Joan Cusack, School of Rock), Runt of the Litter (Steve Zahn, Sahara), and Fish Out of Water discover that aliens are preparing to invade Earth--but since no one believed Chicken Little the first time, why would they believe him now? Though kids will enjoy the bright whizz-bang action sequences of Chicken Little, discerning parents will find the movie tedious. Technically, it has the computer animation quality of Pixar--but with none of their intelligence, heart, or simple storytelling skill. The basic idea of connecting the fable to aliens is amusing, but the script routinely bogs down in clumsy father-son issues that seem like material edited out of Finding Nemo. The jokes rarely have anything to do with the characters, but are mostly pop-culture references that are sadly out of date. The action sequences were obviously created with the inevitable video game in mind, for which the movie is little more than an advertisement. Chicken Little falls flat. --Bret Fetzer

........Wow........That was painful......... January 9, 2010 Eric S. Kim (Southern California) If I told you that "Chicken Little" was as awful as "Barnyard: The Original Party Animals," then you probably wouldn't believe me. Well, believe me when I say that it's not nearly as atrocious as "Barnyard," but it's just as annoying. And MAN, was it annoying! I mean, I was annoyed not only by this movie, but annoyed by the fact that this was in fact made by Disney. This is a terrible CGI-animated film that has nothing special to offer. The basic storyline is adapted from the popular children's fable of the same name, but with a twist. Instead of an acorn, it's an actual piece of sky that has fallen....actually, it's a piece of a UFO which turns invisible. It's an interesting premise, but the rest of the movie fails to deliver.
One of the biggest problems with "Chicken Little" is that it lacks substance and intrigue, even as an animated comedy. In "Toy Story" and "Monsters Inc.," there was a certain kind of intelligence that dominated the story, and that's what makes them truly special and unique. Here, in "Chicken Little," there is no wit, no charm, and no originality whatsoever. I blame the writers for this, for the director would have created a masterpiece if the script actually had something good in it. The characters are even worse. I could care less for these anthropomorphic people: they are just plain annoying! From the Ugly Duckling to Runt of the Litter, they just bring more and more pain. And Chicken Little himself? I don't care for him, either. Aren't you supposed to make the main protagonist interesting and likable? Well, sadly, it doesn't happen here. And speaking of characters, why are we still choosing celebrities to do voice work? I mean, sure, Zach Braff, Joan Cusack, and Garry Marshall are great actors, but this is NOT their specialty. A majority of the characters are miscast, especially the main character. Why does Chicken Little sound like an adult when he's supposed to be a kid? Did the creators think we're stupid? But the absolute worst thing about this CGI atrocity is the lack of humor. This entire film tries too hard to be a family-friendly comedy: the verbal jokes and sight gags are forced and unfunny. It reminded me of "Barnyard," and how painfully unfunny that movie was as well. Maybe kids will find it hilarious, but adults like me will definitely not.
When I saw that Ebert & Roeper gave this film Two Thumbs Down, I admired them for a moment there. That is what I felt like while watching this film. I will give Chicken Little credit, though, for adding a little twist to the famous fable. It could have been handled almost perfectly, but it simply fails as a result. It's a horribly irritating piece of filth, and I was never entertained by it. What a poor excuse for an animated film.

Cute December 14, 2009 A. Gilchrist (Canada) It's an alright movie, wouldn't rate it one of my top favorite Disney movies but its a must if you want the whole Disney collection!
Family movie for adults and children alike October 23, 2009 Amy Mcfarland (California) My son (3) thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It's fast-paced and has great music, and enough humor for parents that it kept me entertained as well. A few spots were even laugh-out-loud funny. A great addition to any kids' movie collection, and a very cute retelling of a classic tale.
Great movie! October 23, 2009 C. Burdette Our family enjoyed this movie. A new twist on an old story with lots of laughs!
Egg First September 21, 2009 Brian W. Glenn (Atlanta) This starts with great promise. It has a self-referential start with a narrator (Garry Marshall doing Peter Falk) talking about uncreative beginnings. Then we see the hero's vision of a huge ball rolling through the town destroying everything. It merges with the similar ball in the first Indiana Jones, literally coming through the screen and out the door. Then it is revealed as a vision. Then there follows notice that a movie is to be made of the stupid chicken. (We see it at the end.) Disney is desperate to cover the loss of its relationship with Pixar, which singehandedly saved the company. Dreamworks seems incapable of doing something with legs. But Disney is ever more straightjacketed with formula and moralizing. That's what defines them. So this movie is yet another disaster. But oh what a great opening. You know, opening sequences have become something of an obsession in Hollywood. Often, they are financed independently and designed and added after the main film is set. You can see that here: the tone and cleverness of the opening is in a much higher class than the tepid movie. Ted's Evaluation -- 1 of 3: You can find something better to do with this part of your life.
