The teaming of Johnny Knoxville (Jackass: The Movie) and Seann William Scott (Dude, Where's My Car?) as well as the presence of the '70s-flavored car chases that were a specialty of the TV series guarantees that The Dukes of Hazzard will be even more lowbrow than the CBS TV series (1979-85) that inspired it. However, this brain-damaging comedy is more "rehash" than "remake," as good ol' Georgia boys Luke Duke (Knoxville) and his cousin Bo (Scott) are frequently upstaged by the General Lee, the Confederate-flagged '69 Charger that they drive, jump, race, and fly in as they smuggle moonshine for their Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson). Meanwhile, cousin Daisy Duke (Jessica Simpson) is reliably available to model her short-shorts (aka "Daisy Dukes") and awesome figure (and let's face it, Simpson's talents pretty much begin and end right there), while corrupt honcho Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds, who should know better) recruits a local NASCAR star to advance his wily scheme of converting Hazzard County into a strip mine. Director Jay Chandrasekhar (Super Troopers) manages to mine some good-natured humor from the movie's oval-track detour and a few colorful supporting players (notably Kevin Hefferman as the Duke's pal Sheev). Otherwise, consider yourself warned: The Dukes of Hazzard is shameless Hollywood product at its most forgettable, trafficking in shameless white, rural Southern stereotypes. If you can make it to the end, there's a blooper reel to reward your endurance. --Jeff Shannon

    Description
Action Comedy based on the hit television series that ran from 1979-85. Set in present day, The Dukes of Hazzard follows the adventures of "good old boy" cousins Bo (Seann William Scott) and Luke (Johnny Knoxville) Duke, who with the help of their eye-catching cousin Daisy (Jessica Simpson) and moonshine-running Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson), try and save the family farm from being destroyed by Hazzard County's corrupt commissioner Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds). Their efforts constantly find the "Duke Boys" eluding authorities in "The General Lee," their famed 1969 orange Dodge Charger that keeps them one step ahead of the dimwitted antics of the small southern town's Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane (M.C. Gainey).

5 out of 5 stars The Dukes of Hazzard   January 31, 2010

    1 out of 5 stars NOT worth a penny!!!!!!!!   January 15, 2010

Anyone who loves the tv show The Dukes of Hazzard really should steer clear of this AWEFUL AWEFUL movie. I've noticed that the movies they made recently are a STAIN on the Dukes good family value name. Even Ben Jones who played Cooter in the tv series posted a blog about how disappointed he was in the movie. My friend and I tried to be open minded and rented it, but we noticed right from the start all the things that didn't work with what the tv show portrayed. We noticed within the first 10 to 15 minutes like 20 or so things that didn't work for us. Things that we loved about the tv show weren't there in the movie. We couldn't watch more than that we were so disgusted with the movie. My sister watched the whole thing and some of the things she told me from the rest of the movie didn't add up from the show either. Bo was not shy; Boss was not tall or an a**, he may have wanted the boys out of the way, but he didn't want them to get hurt; Rosco was not mean; they purposely welded the doors shut, not after an accident; Luke would NEVER fool around with a girl while Bo played look-out; in the tv show they were done with moonshine; and no offense to Jessica Simpson, but Catherine as Daisy had more class than Jessica and don't get me started on the 2 posers who tried to play Bo and Luke. The 2 guys from season 5 of the tv series did a better job than Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott. They may be good actors, but I feel sorry for everyone who was involved in this calamity. Really next time they want to try something like this remember "if it ain't broke... DON'T fix it!!!!" PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T mess with the Dukes anymore!!!

3 out of 5 stars Average Remake   November 3, 2009

The movie plays out like a two part episode of the television version of The Dukes of Hazzard. Boss Hogg is conspiring against the Dukes like always while running some under the table dirty dealings. The thing that was missing from this movie was the fact that none of the likable actors from the television series were in the movie. Although some of the actors in the movie did their parts decent enough I missed all the original actors and felt that nobody in the remake could hold a candle to the original actors from the television series. Jessica Simpson is not in the movie much thankfully. She can't act a lick. Willie Nelson, who hasn't tried his hand at acting since the 80's tries his best here but really can't act either. Burt Reynolds makes an unispiring Boss Hogg. The actor who played Roscoe played his part as more menacing then bumbling. That was another thing that was missing in this movie was the fact that Boss and Roscoe weren't bumbling. They played their characters straight up. Johnny Knoxville does a fair job of acting even though he is not really an actor. It was funny to see his Luke as the ladies man compared to Seann William Scott as the comedic Bo. Seann William Scott does the best in this movie providing the little bit of comic relief there is in this movie. Lynda Carter, TV's Wonderwoman has a small part in the movie. This movie lacked the charm of the television show. It had a bunch of car chases like the show but without the original actors it just didn't have enough to sustain its one hour and thirty minute run time. Overall the movie was a decent watch but rather unforgettable. Its better to stick with the tv show even though they don't show it on television anymore. Its always available on dvd.

5 out of 5 stars Highly entertaining and even higher underrated movie   October 29, 2009

Not sure why all the crying and whining about the losers on here saying this was a bad movie when it was entertaining from start to finish. It had a lot of great classic rock music. The action was amazing with some of the best stunt driving you'll ever see in any movie! The movie was really funny from start to finish and Jessica Simpson was hot as hell!!! I have no idea why all the losers on here are crying about this movie but it's great!

5 out of 5 stars An Awesome Film!!!   August 23, 2009

It's been a while since I've watched this movie, and the series, but now I'm refreshing my memory! This was a very funny movie based on the classic series! Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott were hilarious together. Bo and Luke Duke help Uncle Jesse run Moonshine in the General Lee. When Boss Hogg forces the Dukes off their farm, Bo and Luke sneak around Hogg's local construction site and find samples of coal. They soon realize that Boss Hogg is gonna strip-mine Hazzard County, unless the Dukes can stop him, with the help of their beautiful cousin, Daisy. My only two problems with the movie was that Burt Reynolds wasn't right for the part of Boss Hogg, and Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane was way too serious. Other than that, I highly recommend THE DUKES OF HAZZARD!!!
