Better action, a bit of sex, and gorier R-rated violence make Underworld: Evolution a reasonably satisfying sequel to 2003's surprise hit Underworld. Looking stunning as ever in her black leather battle gear, Kate Beckinsale is every goth guy's fantasy as Selene, the vampire "death dealer" who's now fighting to stop the release of the original "Lycan" werewolf, William (Brian Steele) from the prison that's held him for centuries. As we learn from the film's action-packed prologue, William and his brother Marcus (Tony Curran) began the bloodline of vampires and werewolves, and after witnessing centuries of warfare between them, their immortal father Corvinus (Derek Jacobi) now seeks Selene and the human vampire/lycan hybrid Michael (Scott Speedman) to put an end to the war perpetuated by Victor (Bill Nighy), the vampire warrior whose betrayal of Selene turns Underworld: Evolution into an epic tale of familial revenge. This ambitious attempt at Shakespearean horror is compromised by a script (by Danny McBride and returning director Len Wiseman, Beckinsale's real-life husband) that's more confusing than it needs to be, with too many characters and not enough storytelling detail to flesh them all out. Aspiring to greatness and falling well short of that goal, Underworld: Evolution succeeds instead as a full-throttle action/horror thriller, with enough swordplay, gunplay, and CGI monsters to justify the continuation of the Underworld franchise. If you're an established fan, this is a must-see movie; if not, well... at least it's better than Van Helsing! --Jeff Shannon

The rare sequel that surpasses the original. Selene and hybrid Michael are now hunted after the vampire and werewolf battle that saw the demise of Lucien and Viktor. What Selene does not know, is that she has important information that the last remaining elder, Marcus must get to free his Lycan brother William. What takes place is thrilling hunt that takes us deeper into the vampire and werewolf lore, to it's very origin.
NOW FOR MY BLU-RAY THOUGHTS: The best looking of the series. This one jumps out at you and is gorgeous. Demo potential. All special features are ported over. FINAL VERDICT: ABSOLUTELY UPGRADE.

So continues the story of the war between Lycans and Vampires. And like the first instalment of this series, this movie does not skimp on action or leather clad heroines. Underworld Evolution is as good as it gets. Highly recommend this one.
Great Story Line #2 December 24, 2009

A continuation/sequel of Underworld! I my first review of Underworld I stated this "What does one say about Werewolf's and Vampires? If you are into those things then this is a movie for you, not to mention the savings you get by buying in on Amazon. I would recommend to all", I have not changed that statement for this movie either. Keep an eye out for the third episode/sequel. That may be a nail biter also.

This Underworld is THE must own out of the set of three! Kate Beckinsale is at her all time smokingest hottest! Scott Speedman's Hybrid is superb! And well Marcus' character is everything you want from a vilan! Action is incredible a perfect run time movie. You never sit there and say how much more could they do here, wondering when it'll end. Loved every second! Since I purchased have watched probably min. 5 times! A+++++
