Product Description THE ADDAMS FAMILY & ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES ON ONE DISC
Amazon.com The Addams Family Director Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) brings his distinctly cartoonish sensibility to this feature film version of the old Charles Addams comic strip. Anjelica Huston was born to play Morticia Addams, matriarch of the ghoulish Addams clan, while the late Raul Julia is a very agreeable, lusty Gomez. But it's Christina Ricci who arguably steals the show as their stone-faced daughter, Wednesday. As is often the problem with adaptations of comics or television shows, somehow an original story has to be implemented that doesn't clutter things up. But clutter is an issue here as the script gets tangled on a lame plot concerning efforts to steal the Addams' house and fortune. Still, it's fun to see an ideal cast reanimate an old favorite. --Tom Keogh The Addams Family Values This somewhat more cohesive follow-up to The Addams Family has the same director, Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black), but a better story line. Joan Cusack plays a busty gold digger who ingratiates herself into the Addams home and convinces Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd) that she wants to marry him. Besides Lloyd, the cast includes Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia, ideal as those Brontëan lovers, Morticia and Gomez. But Christina Ricci again walks away with the best moments as the chilly Wednesday Addams, making life miserable for two camp counselors (Peter MacNicol and Christine Baranski) who want her to fit in with other kids.--Tom Keogh

Absolute Fun ! March 17, 2010 Spottedfeather (Independence, Missouri United States) Two of my favourite movies on one disc ? This is a great set. It's been said that the Addams family movies are darker than the tv series. That's because the movies are based more on the comics than the movies. You'd think that having two movies on one disc would make the quality really horrible. It doesn't. Both movies were single layer transfers, so there's no compression. The picture is clear and free of artifacts....for the most part. The only time anything is noticeable is during the very beginning of the movies when the picture is really dark. Both movies have trailers which are a lot of fun. If you're a fan of the Addams family, then you should get this dvd. And contrary to a previous review, both movies ARE in widescreen.
great value! January 24, 2010 G. Hess (Madison, WI) These are great movies. When i saw these as a child, i wanted to be adopted into the Addams family. Now you can get both of these great Gothic family films for one low price!
Great Value for the Addams Family January 21, 2010 Just_Radar (Scottsdale, AZ) I grew up on the Addams family. Now I get to watch the movies as an adult. This two-DVD set is a great value. If they were VHS, we would have already worn them out. They're silly and irreverent, but you gotta love `em! Besides: Either you've known a family like this, lived next door to a family like the Addams, or your family IS the Addams family. So, order some worms, enjoy the movies in this set, and waste an afternoon or evening watching them back-to-back.
Great product December 15, 2009 Alexis Fraser A great movie and excellent purchase! It's great to finally have both films on DVD and perfect that they are on the SAME DVD..less space!
Addams Family movies get a 10 out of 10 for tv to movie adaption. December 9, 2009 Jim Gaffney (Woodland Hills CA) Only Raul Julia could make these movies feel so real to John Astin's character. Angelica Huston is very dark Mortica and when she speaks your hooked.
Christopher Lloyd is perfect for Uncle Fester, from mad scientist in back to the future, head angel in Angels in the Outfield, and what ever else he works on is gold.
