Amazon.com An unbelievable movie, and deliriously better for it. Keanu Reeves is a hotshot law enforcement dude--Johnny Utah by name--investigating a series of bank robberies in L.A. Four gunmen, disguised in rubber masks of ex-U.S. presidents, have never come close to being caught, but veteran agent Gary Busey has a theory: The bandits are surfers. This prompts the superb line, "The ex-presidents rip off banks to finance the endless summer!" This movie's full of dialogue like that, but instead of sounding ridiculous it creates its own infectious comic-book energy--ride the crest of it and you'll find the film's giddy zone. Patrick Swayze plays Bodhi, zen-master leader of the surfing clan, humming serenely with the wisdom of the waves. (Alarmingly, Swayze also did his own skydiving stunts.) Director Kathryn Bigelow (Strange Days) stages the action sequences with a visceral snap, and clearly has a gift for orchestrating pulp fiction. Though not a huge hit when was first released, Point Break has a well-deserved cult reputation thanks to its video afterlife. The film's executive producer is James Cameron, Bigelow's husband at the time. --Robert Horton

"THE REVIEW" February 7, 2010 William H. Howell (Germany) This is a classic movie for the "generation x". Point Break came out when I was in Jr. High school. Now on Blu-Ray, much better quality, not perfect. But job well done bringing this movie back to life. Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze, and Gary Busey. Bringing together surfing, bank robbing, dry humor, and patriotism ( X Presidents. Watch it, you'll like.
Point Break January 6, 2010 Arnita D. Brown (USA) Rookie FBI agent, hoping to break a bank robbery ring, infiltrates a colony of surfers in Southern California. The ultimate feel good movie...watched it over and over. You will just wanna get out there and start living. Keanu is great as usual, what an actor he his. Highly recommended.
Pan Scan Fixed in Blu Ray?? November 21, 2009 E. J. Scholar (Kingston, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Does any one know if the Pan Scan problem was fixed on Blu Ray? Thanks!
Amazing November 21, 2009 Aileen Maynard (Lindley, NY) Point Break is an amazing, well-thought out movie with Patrick Swayze(whom we will miss), and Keanu Reeves.
I would highly recommend this film as it is enjoyable.
An underrated classic November 13, 2009 bodhi (California, USA) Point break is the best action film ever made by far. The plot is intriguing and unique, the action scenes are brutally realistic and it is hard to decide whether or not to root for the hero or the villain. The film follows and FBI agent that goes undercover as a surfer to snare a gang of adrenaline addicted bank robbing surfers. Surprisingly there are many complaints out there about this film. Many say that this film is silly and unrealistic. They just don't get that there are people out there that could get this addicted to adrenaline. The plot is also ten times more realistic than that of Die Hard, Speed or any Lethal Weapon. Another complaint is that the film starts slow. So what if it takes 30 minutes for action to start, that's actually good since the plot is building momentum and the action scenes in the movie are some of the best ever filmed. The surfing and skydiving also help distinguish it from the typical shoot 'em up. The people who don't like this movie are the people who enjoy plotless effects driven crap like Aliens or Terminator. Point Break deserves not only to be considered as one of the best action movies, but it deserves to be reverred as a great overall film.
