Tod and copper are back and theyve brought along some new friends in this homespun tale of true friendship that cant be broken. Studio: Buena Vista Home Video Release Date: 09/19/2008 Run time: 69 minutes Rating: G

Developing close friendships and nurturing a positive self esteem are two major challenges along the road to growing up. In this Disney sequel to The Fox and the Hound, Tod (a young fox voiced by Jonah Bobo) and Copper (a bloodhound voiced by Harrison Fahn) are the best of friends. When Copper bemoans the fact that he can't seem to do anything right, Tod reassures him that eventually he'll find something at which he excels and invites him to the fair. Opportunity knocks when a vocal dog group called "The Singing Strays" looses its lead singer Dixie (voiced by Reba McEntire) and Copper discovers that he's a really good singer. Unfortunately, Copper's newly discovered fame leaves Tod feeling jealous and abandoned and threatens to destroy the pair's close friendship. Will a close examination of what's really important in life be enough to set things right between Tod and Copper? This engaging, 69-minute animated Disney movie features original music performed by Grammy-winning country music star Reba McEntire as well as the voice talents of Patrick Swayze and Jeff Foxworthy. 5 out of 5 stars great movie   October 26, 2008
i bought this movie for my 2 year old grandson and he just loves it thanks

1 out of 5 stars One of the WORST Disney sequals ever made   July 26, 2008
Not only is this one of those Disney sequals that takes characters from a previous movie that grew up and puts them back to a baby/child stage but it was completely unbearable. the plot of this movie focuses on Todd and Copper's friendship being strained because Copper wants to join a country band. Since it was so long ago all the voices are different, the other characters from the old one like the owl and the birds and catipiller do not appear in this movie and the new characters are flat out obnoxious. This movie was truly unbearable and time being wasted on this was too much, nonetheless money. Just buy the old one, it's worlds better.

4 out of 5 stars It took a little while to ship this item.   January 23, 2008
When it did get here, it was played for the next few days the once a day she was allowed to watch it.

5 out of 5 stars great family movie   December 24, 2007
This is overall a great family movie that appeals to both the young and old. I purchased the movie more so for my husband and I than the kids due to sentimental reasons!

    4 out of 5 stars A Great Mid-quel!   December 18, 2007
This is NOT a sequel to the Fox and the Hound, rather this is a story that takes place somewhere in the middle of that movie.
Tod and Copper stumble upon a country fair in their quaint country town and through a matter of circumstance, Copper ends up being a "star" of the Singin Strays singing dog group. This leads to turmoil within the band, as one of their own talented divas gets ousted in favor of the newcomer, as well as Tod becomes depressed as he gets pushed to the background as Copper rises to stardom (at the fair though, of course). This keeps enough conflict to make the movie an exciting journey, told through rich characters, beautiful bright animation, a cornucopia of great country music performed by professional stars from the heartland, memorable voice acting and a decent story to tie it all together.

It's great to see Copper and Tod back together again in their "puppy/cubhood" - something that was perhaps not fleshed out enough in the first film. Yet the real stars of the show are Cash (voiced by Patrick Swayze) and the diva dog Dixie voiced by Reba McEntire. These two have spunk and fire and its great seeing them banter back and forth in their personal and professional relationships (which naturally intertwine).

The great music, slapstick comedy and friendly characters make this a fun watch for children of all ages. I purchased it when my three year old seemed interested in it from the commercials and previews on other DVDs and it became an unlikely hit for the whole family.

Two thumbs up and four stars. One star removed because the story could have been tightened up a bit, but other than that, this is a surprisingly solid effort from Disney.
