Product Description Two of Spain's biggest female stars headline this offbeat comedy about the battle of wills between good and evil. Heaven is not getting its fair share of business for the afterlife so Lola (Victoria Abril) an angel who sings in a nightclub located beyond the pearly gates is sent to Earth to drum up business by her boss Marina (Fanny Ardant). Her first prospect is Manny (Demi n Bichir) a prizefighter with an injury that could take his life at any time. As Lola tries to claim Manny's soul for the Lord the wicked Jack Davenport (Gael Garc a Bernal) believes that the Devil deserves the boxer's soul and he sends one of Hell's waitresses Carmen (Pen lope Cruz) to seal the deal. On Earth Lola takes the form of Manny's former love and urges him to mend fences with his mother while seductive Carmen tries to persuade Manny to return to the ring knowing that another fight would mean his death. While Lola and Carmen wage war over Manny's soul they maintain their cover by working at a grocery store where they both learn a few lessons about the pitfalls of earthly capitalism. Meanwhile Manny is dealing with financial problems of his own -- he owes money to the city's corrupt police commissioner (Emilio Guti rrez Caba) who is using his strong-arm men to persuade Manny to pay up. Released in Europe as Sin Noticias de Dios (which translates as No News From God) Don't Tempt Me was a box-office success in Spain when it was released in late 2001 though it wouldn't reach American theaters until 2003.System Requirements:Run Time: 108 minutesFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY Rating: NR UPC: 687797986061 Manufacturer No: FLP-98606

| Customer Reviews: Not bad! September 19, 2009 Adrien Caldwell (Chicago, IL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This movie isn't bad. It's much better than an average 3 star rating but not a 5 star work of perfection either. Some things were a bit annoying to me. For example, I don't know why we had to switch from Spanish, to French to English and back again. It should have been completely in Spanish. So far I can't see the value of using three different languages, it's just an unnecessary complication.
I eventually understood that Heaven was a place for black and white 40's/50's glamor. However, for a moment I was a bit confused in the beginning. Things unfold as the movie carries along so if you're confused just stick with it and it starts to unfold and you'll understand as you go along.

Wonderful comedy October 5, 2008 Dr. Robert H. Getscher (OH United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This movie was an absolute delight. The dialogue between the angels and demons is witty and insightful. All the actors fit, and interact with punch, physically and emotionally -- girls with boxing gloves, yes! The sets and camera work are inspired fun, from tight views in a grocery store to expansive views of a heavenly night club, sexy torch singer and all. Even the movement from Spanish to English and back pushes the universality of the theme. What a wickedly comic view of good (and evil). I can't wait to share this visionary film. If you find it hard to follow, speed up your thinking, man.
Great movie February 19, 2008 Cheryl A. Kitchen (Virginia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this movie. I've watched it many times. It's complicated. It's probably not until the near end that the viewer figures out what the heck is going on, but it's an eye twitcher. I have watched it multiple times. For me, this is what lets me know it's a good movie. I don't like simple, predictable plots. I like to be challenged to think and this movie challenged me. That's not to mean it's "sketchy". I think it means that the characters have deminsion to them and are complicated. Equally complicated is how they interconnect with each other.
Victoria Abril, Penelope Cruz and Gael Garcia Bernal are excellent.
Not Gael's best work August 13, 2007 M. Kline (San Diego CA) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
The plot was good. The acting was not. Difficult to get through, took me three tries.
