The "Shadow" and his band of outlaws have a group of ranchers cowed until John Wayne rides into town, becomes the Sheriff and turns the tables on the bad guys. He captures two of the gang and learns of a fake wall safe where they get their orders. He concocts a plan to trap the Shadow and rescues a damsel in distress.A good early western that will be appreciated by Wayne fans. A Classic JW western from '34 December 29, 2007
The Purple Heart (USA)
"Star Packer" is another great old 1930's western film starring John Wayne when 'talkies' were still in their infancy stage to a greater extent.
The storyline is familiar with JW overcoming what are seemingly insurmountable odds against the western badman. As usual, there is a heroine in the film who may or may not be attracted to Mr. Wayne initally. That always changes too at some point.
Not a very long movie but it is good, clean, wholesome entertainment for the whole family to enjoy and
the 'little ones' to get a take on Hollywood film history.
You can't know where you are going unless you know where you've been.
