While Vince with the aid of his trusty sidekick Jorge (Efren Ramirez) -- has advanced to become head cashier and winner of 17 consecutive E of M awards Zack is the ultimate slacker whose scruffy appearance and laid back attitude has made him popular with his colleagues but kept him stuck in the lowly ranks of the store s box boys. The duo s longtime rivalry comes to a bitter head when Amy (Jessica Simpson) a beautiful new cashier with a reputation of only dating Employee of the Month winners transfers to the store immediately becoming the object of both Zack and Vince s affection and often comical gamesmanship. While Vince instantly impresses Amy with his crowd pleasing flamboyant style behind his checkstand register Zack s feeble attempts to charm his beautiful new co-worker quickly backfire against him. Surprisingly funny June 19, 2007 When I first heard about this movie, I thought it would be just another idiotic lowest-common-denominator comedy. And to be fair, that's what the advertising painted it as. Well, after watching it on DVD, I had to change my mind. I mean, sure, it wasn't particularly intelligent, but it wasn't trying to be, and it didn't have to be. It was just...funny. And certainly original. I mean, like in every other romantic(ish) comedy, the good guy wins while getting the hot girl, but the setup is interesting, and makes for a lot of comedic moments. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the cast--especially Jessica Simpson--could actually act. It's certainly not for everyone, but if you're looking for a truly entertaining comedy that doesn't overstay its welcome, this is the way to go.
Incredibly Funny April 1, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is a very entertaining movie about life in a big box store (like Costco) which I'll watch it again, because it was incredibly funny. It's about a character named Zack who has not achieved anything, because he didn't want to. Well, he was through living in the shadow of a guy named Vince, a hot shot who has the fastest fingers on a cash register in the region, plus he has been employee of the month twelve times running, but now Zack wants the honor, because he wants to catch the attention of a beautiful new cashier.
Zack finally lives up to his potential, but in doing so he's left his friends behind, however he did manage to sweep the girl off of her feet and get more stars for employee of the month than Vince. In the end, when things are totally messed up he fixes everything. Also, he has a funny, yet competitive showdown with Vince. As I said above, this is a funny movie and I loved every second of it. I recommend it for people of all ages and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL February 1, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Frequenters of bulk shopping like Walmart's Sam's Choice will certainly identify with this surprisingly effective comedy. The story focuses on two employees of a large store who are competing for the coveted employee of the month award. Dane Cook is the reckless box-boy who decides to take the title away from 17time winner Vince, played with smarmy abandon by Dax Shepherd. The reason: the arrival of buxom Jessica Simpson who is surprisingly effective in her role; she even makes fun of her sexy status by showing Cook how big her ears are! Needless to say, anything goes in the competition and as Cook starts making headway on Shepherd, all hell breaks loose. The movie is engagingly charming and is to be commended for its limited use of profanity or overuse of sexual innuendo. Cook carries the movie nicely and it's a pleasant surprise all around.
