Employee of the Month December 6, 2009 A. Pierre (Somewheres) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Employee of the Month is a by the books comedy film. You can pretty much tell how it's going end within the first few minutes of the movie. It stars three of Hollywood's worst actors in Dane Cook, Andy Dick, and Jessica Simpson. Simpson cannot act to save her life, Andy Dick is just annoying as he tries to be funny, and Cook cannot star as a lead actor. I enjoy Cook's stand-up comedy but his Hollywood films have all been misses. I bought this movie for a dollar at a yard sale and I would not spend anymore on it. I didnt laugh once at this movie, as I said it's by the books and nothing is really funny.

A funny concept, but execution is flawed July 9, 2009 Bradley F. Smith (Miami Beach, FL) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Did they have to film Jessica Simpson in brief snippets because her acting skills are all but nil? She displays almost no ability to emote here, and appears to have but one speed at most. Still, they get the details almost correct of what it must be like to work at a Sam's Club-like superstore where perfection leads to the meaningless title of employee of the month, or in this case, the winner of a perfectly dull almost new Chevy Malibu or some such. The action flags severely in the middle, but this has some nice moments. Actually kind of funny for a comedy.
An Underated Comic Masterpiece June 11, 2009 Karl J. Hanson 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There aren't many movies that I find this funny, but this is one my favorites. A very clever script with cute humor and funny visuals that parody big budget pictures. The actors are fantastic.
The movie is about a microcosm of society inside a big super store. The pecking order goes something like this: 1. Store manager on top, 2. Checkout clerks, and 3. Box boys (the bottom feeders). The lead checkout person is the alpha male in the store. He has been the uncontested "Employee of the Month" so many times, he is only one month away from winning a grand prize car with "pleather" (better than leather). But, not so fast! - "Alpha" meets his match in the form of a box boy nemesis! "Box Boy" wants the EOM award, so that he, too, can get into the checker's lounge. Lacking the status to get into the checker's lounge, the bottom feeders make do with a secret makeshift lounge they've built amongst stacks of boxes.
Very funny and good natured.
A Fun and Enjoyable Film May 11, 2009 Anthony Iozzo (Toronto, Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't understand why most critics and reviewers give this fine movie a low rating. Although not entirely original, it's a very fun film. My first job was as a grocery clerk in a supermarket, and this film brought back many fond memories. Petty rivalries between different departments in a Cosco type store, is excellent comic material. Most people just don't get it and would rather rate a film like Superbad much higher. Overall this is a pleasure to watch alone or with friends on a movie night.
