Amazon.com Miss Potter walks that fine line between charming and cloying with pleasing sure-footedness. Apple-cheeked Renee Zellweger (Bridget Jones' Diary) once again slips into a British accent to play writer/illustrator Beatrix Potter, the creator of Peter Rabbit. Potter, born into wealth, fought the disapproval of her high society mother to do something as crass as publish a book...and to fall in love with her publisher, Norman Warne (Ewan McGregor, previously teamed with Zellweger in Down With Love). Unfortunately, their love runs into something worse than upper-class stuffiness. Miss Potter skips through Potter's life a bit too briskly at times, but Zellweger's thankfully restrained performance, McGregor's infinite charm, and some beautiful shots of the English landscape keep the movie grounded and engaging. Also featuring a crackling supporting performance by Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves) as Warne's sister Millie. --Bret Fetzer

Just wonderful! January 17, 2010 John Alford (Texas) One of the best movies ever! The scenery is spectacular and yes, filmed in the Lake District in England. I was fortunate to go there a year after filming and can now watch the movie and actually know exactly where certain scenes were made. This movie has so much heart. The acting and writing are superb! There is nothing else to say except that I am so glad to own the DVD to get my fix whenever inclined.

Miss Potter December 16, 2009 Carolyn Diefenbaker (Mich) Loved this movie so much that I ended up buying one for a gift.
Was Beatrix Potter kind of dotty? December 9, 2009 R. Bagula (Lakeside, Ca United States) The movie depicts a somewhat homely old maid who lived
in a childish world of her stories and animals.
The love affair with her publisher's younger brother
who was assigned her book to get him out of his older brother's hair
is a strange mix of 19th morays right out of Jane Austin.
Her mother and father, it seems, would rather she be a lonely old maid,
than marry below her station and disgrace them.
All their scheming backfires when he unexpectedly dies of a fever.
So what did she do with the rest of her life?
Why is she considered one of the first "modern" British
women? I liked the movie, but I suspect that she
was much better balanced than the movie gives her credit for.
Old England November 21, 2009 Liam Corr (Boston, MA) If you are over 13, as I am, you can thoroughly enjoy this film for the superb acting of Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor as well as Emily Watson. The scenery of Old England and the story of Beatrix Potter is fascinating.
Efficient website October 17, 2009 Chelsea (Georgia) I ordered Mrs. Potter for my daughter. It was easy to order on the website. The shipping took a few days longer than expected but when we saw the originating address of Canada, we were fine with it. The item was new and excellent condition. I was really pleased with my first time experience using Amazon!
