An irresistible concept meets computer-generated wonders in Night at the Museum, inspired by a 1993 children's book by Milan Trenc. Ben Stiller stars as Larry Daley, an underachieving inventor waiting for his ship to come in while getting evicted from one apartment after another for lack of funds. Larry's son needs some stability, so the well-meaning ne'er-do-well takes a job as night watchman at New York City's Museum of Natural History. What the soon-to-retire guards (Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs) don't tell him is that an ancient pharaoh's tablet in the museum causes everything on display to come to life at night. Thus, Larry meets representations of Teddy Roosevelt, Attila the Hun, fire-worshipping cavemen, and Roman Empire soldiers, and learns to cope with an excitable T-Rex and man-eating, ancient animals. The film might have left things at that, but an added story element gives Night at the Museum some extra urgency and excitement, especially for kids: Larry becomes responsible for keeping this nightly miracle going and preventing anything in the museum from dying due to exposure to sunrise. Computer effects, as well as wildly imaginative costumes and makeup, help make the film appeal to the 8-year-old in everyone. Director Shawn Levy (The Pink Panther) works with a hugely talented cast, including Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais, Carla Gugino, and Steve Coogan. --Tom Keogh Night at the Museum Extras Ben Stiller on Director Shawn Levy | Ricky Gervais on the size of his trailer and eating cheese. |

Night at the Museum (Full Screen Edition) February 8, 2010 Arnita D. Brown (USA) A unemployed divorced Larry Daley is a complete loser. His son Nick is very disappointed with his father that is gong to be evicted, and Larry accepts the job of night watchman in the Museum of Natural History as the substituted for three old security guards that have just retired to raise some money and pay his bills. In his first nightshift, Larry realizes that everything at the museum comes to life at night. The Museum transforms in a complete chaos with the inexperienced Larry, and he learns that since an old Egyptian stone came to the Museum in 1950, the was statues comes to life until dawn. When Larry brings his son to spend a night with him, the three old guards break in the Museum to stole the magic stone. Larry organizes the historic characters to help him to arrest the criminals and save the museum. This movie is well paced, jumping almost directly into the action, with plenty of laughs. This is an entirely enjoyable family movie.
Great Movie. Great blu-ray! January 31, 2010 wahoonut (Virginia) This movie is really funny! I love the creativity in how they had the little exhibits interact with each other. It reminded me of my childhood days and me playing with my toys. It has an adventurous theme the whole way through. The picture and sound quality on this blu-ray are great! Truly eye and ear candy! Great choice to purchase!!

Started to watch this dvd and realized it was the first movie not the second movie. now i'm stuck with two of the same movie.
Why did I wait so long? January 19, 2010 Y.S. Jessie (Beaumont, TX.) I cannot believe it took me so long to watch this movie. This movie was hilarious. I just happened to see it on my sisters tv stand and borrowed it on a Sunday when I had nothing else to watch and laughed nonstop. There were so many good parts that I cannot begin saying which ones were the funniest.
My favorite characters were Jedediah and Dexter (the monkey). The look on his face when he realized he had toy keys was priceless!!! I only wished that my daughter had been in town to view this with me, we love to watch silly movies together. I ordered the 2nd installment so that I can laugh even more because if the previews are any indication, it is just as funny. I will eventually add this little gem to my DVD collection, but not right now since I have seen it courtesy of my big sister.
Great movie!!!
