Amazon.com Recovering from the box-office disappointment of The Cable Guy, Jim Carrey gave his fans what they wanted in this good-natured and frequently hilarious 1997 comedy. In a vehicle tailor-made for his verbal and physical antics, Carrey plays a lawyer whose penchant for prevarication is tested when his son makes a birthday wish that his father would tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth for 24 hours, so help him God! Without his daily defense of white lies, selfish fibs, and outright deception, the helpless lawyer finds himself blurting uncensored truths with total, and totally outrageous, candor. The script is clever enough to milk the premise for all it's worth, but it's Carrey's energy--particularly in a hilarious bathroom scene where he literally mugs himself to delay a trial--that keeps the movie going to its sappy happy ending. The supporting cast includes Jennifer Tilly, Cary Elwes, and Amanda Donohoe. --Jeff Shannon
Product Description An unctuous smooth-talking divorce attorney's propensity for propitious prevarication may wow the juries but his five-year-old son Max wants an end to the lies. So when Dad blows off the boy's birthday bash with yet another weak excuse Max wishes his dad to spend a whole day incapable of lying. And lo and behold the wish comes true with hilariously disastrous results in the courtroom.Runtime: 87 minutesFormat: DVD HD Genre: COMEDY Rating: PG - 13 UPC: 025195009737 Manufacturer No: 61101162

thanks January 8, 2010 Brice Hartvigsen The movie came in a very timely manner and in excellent condition! thanks so much!
Refreshing Tale December 28, 2009 Joseph_ (Cincinnati, OH USA) I hadn't seen this movie in a few years, so I rented it from the library and re-watched it. And it's even better the second time around.
Jim Carrey is hilarious in his role as a lying lawyer and father, who abruptly has to tell the truth for 24 hours after his son's birthday wish. In a mess of creative, truly funny moments that tangle just enough with adult themes to make it classic for us, yet fun enough for our teens, Carrey scores one of his best movies, I believe. It has an undying funniness that is carried easily throughout the movie with Carrey's ridiculous, funny antics and even some licks of heart-warming family moments.
Although a great movie for adults and teenagers, it's not really meant for kids- not only do they not really get what's going on, but it's got some language that I'd prefer our youngest kids not scrambling around and repeating. And, naturally, when you marry Jim Carrey to a movie about a lawyer who can't lie, there's gonna be some sensuality lurking around somewhere.
But otherwise? It's got a fast-paced plot, some great acting, and a perfectly ridiculous ending to wrap up one of the best Jim Carrey movies out there.
A good time! December 25, 2009 Loves to Read (Oregon, USA) I took my 90 yr old grandmother to see this when it was in the theater. She was laughing so hard I thought I'd have to peel her off the floor during the last fifteen minutes. Such fun! My gosh, how does Jim doooooo all of those faces????
Chuckling here....
The Goddam pen is blue November 9, 2009 David A. Smith (Webberville, Mi, USA) this has to be the best Jim Carrey movie ever made. this movie is hillarious. recommend it for everyone
a male attorney not lying for a full day? September 10, 2009 Medusa (Troy, MI) You have to admit that a movie about a male attorney, who goes the whole day without lying, is suspicious and tantalizingly intriguing.
Jim Carrey's performance in this film about a refreshing new topic makes for an enjoyable experience.
