Product Description Movie DVD
Amazon.com Just because you're all grown up doesn't mean your family dynamics get any easier. Luckily for TV fans, the first season of Brothers and Sisters makes for addictive watching while exploring the intricacies of a family, in crisis and in repose. First, let us give thanks for the amazing Sally Field, who has literally grown up on the small screen, and who now plays the matriarch of the Walker family, though not as a power-mad dowager, but as a well-meaning, slightly naive but fiercely loyal California girl gone ever-so-slightly gray. In fact, when this show debuted in the fall of 2006, it was known as the "new Calista Flockhart show," but Field quickly became the standout in a stellar ensemble cast. While the Walkers' problems of money and business deals may seem rarefied to some, the family pecking orders and feuds are universal and handled deftly by the writers and the actors, including Patricia Wettig, the icy former mistress of the dearly departed Walker pere (Tom Skerritt), and brothers Dave Annable and Balthazar Getty. Rachel Griffiths is a tart sisterly counterpoint to Flockhart's flighty Ann Coulter wannabe. In short, anyone with a family should be able to relate. And, perhaps, cringe a bit. --A.T. Hurley

Why hadn't I watched this show before? I was missing out! October 24, 2009 Carina Angel (Woodstock) I am a huge fan of the 90's show "thirtysomething" and didn't realize, until two weeks ago, both Patricia Wttig and Ken Olin were a part of this show. Once I did, I got this DVD set and started watching! What an amazing show! I spent the last week watching one episode after another not wanting to leave these characters and wanting to see what happens next. Sally Field is wonderful as Nora! And, who doesn't like see Rob Lowe on screen?
The women on this show really shine. I have to admit, I'm not a total fan of the actors who play Kevin and Tommy, but they are given great storylines.
My only slight criticism is that, at times, the writing does seem weak. But then it comes on so strong. I found myself crying at the loss of the baby and when Justin left for Iraq.
I will never miss an episode of this show again.

I love this show! so much that I bought all 3 seasons to watch before this weekes premeire! I even got them a few days before my ETA. I will however say that I was NOT pleased on how damaged the 1st season box was.
Brothers & Sisters September 22, 2009 B. C. Tobias (Kalamazoo, Michigan) Excellent - got me hooked on the series. Have since ordered season 2 and three.
Fabulous show! September 12, 2009 Louise Fox (Newnan, Ga United States) What a great show! With a cast such as the one assembled here it couldn't help but please but the writing is excellent as well. All of the story lines come together smoothly and each episode leaves you looking forward to the next. Brothers and Sisters reminds me of the 80's when we were treated to such outstanding productions as Sisters,China Beach and Thirtysomething. Definitely a winner and each season gets better and better.
