Gilmore Girls Complete Seven Seasons June 2, 2009 Elizabeth Maddox (Chicago) The show itself is fantastic! The writing, acting, and chemistry between the ensemble of actors is without equal. The show offers a wide variety of elationships and social situations that are believable. I care about and feel I know on a personal level each character and I really like them all. The ability of Graham and Bledel to deliver complex lines at a very fast pace make the rythym of the dialoge exceptional. This show recreates for all viewers the sense of belonging to a small town where residents know and care about each other that few in this country have an opportunity to experience in the real world. My only complaint is that one of the 42 discs in the set would not play.
Full of surprises May 27, 2009 Amanda Archambeau (Durham, NC) I've never been a frequent viewer of WB or CW (whichever it is now) so I had never heard of the Gilmore Girls until about a month ago when I was flipping through the channels and happened upon the SOAP network were they played two shows back to back one weekend. And that's how I met Lorelai and Rory. Immediately, I began search for the show times and channels, but to my dismay I found out it was canceled. So I just hopped on Amazon and searched for the seasons, and lo and behold I found the complete set (which really wasn't all the hard). As soon as it arrived I began my "Gilmore Girls marathon" all 153 episodes, which took about two week of non-stop continuous watching. Every day after work until bedtime, all weekend long from dawn to dusk, I couldn't get enough of it. And then when it was over I couldn't believe it. Like that was it. Over. I was sad because I felt like there was so much more there. But oh so glad that I got to experience it. I felt like an honorary member of Stars Hollow (only to find out it's not a real town, boo) I so badly wanted to attend a town meeting or a dance-off. It made me feel like times were good and there are actually good-hearted people out there. I loved the fast-paced chatting, the back-and-forth mother/daughter banter, Richard and Emily, the towns people, Luke, Lane, Sookie, Jackson, Paul Anka, everything and everyone about Stars Hollow. It was a nice escape and an excellent show!
Wife Loves Me For Getting This - minor glitch though May 27, 2009 Edward Ramirez (Chandler, AZ) So I got this for my wife who loves the Gilmore Girls. I got some major "points" with this purchase and she still tells me how much she loves it. She has watched every episode and is waiting for my sister's pending visit to go through the episodes they miss when watching television (seems they play most of the way through but stop prior to getting to the end of the series). One problem - disc 24 would not play. It was not recognized by my primary DVD player or other players I tried it on. After contacting Amazon, they said it was past the normal return period but they will honor the return anyway, for customer satisfaction purposes. I am not really all that happy with having to return ALL the discs when only one is "bad" but I need to get the issue resolved. Will let ya know how that turns out. Also, the box the set comes in is pretty cheezy. Too tall to store in a normal DVD rack of any sort. And the handle broke right away. Wish it was packaged a little better / simpler. All-in-all, a good product, reasonable price and worth it for anyone that loves Gilmore Girles.
Consistently entertaining May 26, 2009 Scott Lloyd (Rhinebeck, NY, USA) The most interesting aspect of this series is its consistent quality. Unlike some of my other favorite series such as Monarch of the Glen, where you first get used to the characters, the quality rises around the middle of the series, and then drops off and the original magic dissipates. If you liked one episode of The Gilmore Girls you will probably like the whole series. Especially interesting are charming performances by Alexis Bledel as the daughter, and Edward Herrmann as the grandfather. The series is spiced with humorous performances by Sean Gunn, as the village court jester Kirk, and Liza Weil as the hilarious best friend, Paris Geller.
Greatest series of All Time May 18, 2009 Michael J. Hopkins (providence r.i.) Excellent series, in my opinion, good acting and very well written. Very intellegent series. You won't find a smarter, wittier series, anywhere. Very fast and sometimes hard to keep up with, but it makes your conversations longer and smarter in everyday life. It's what makes the show great. Well worth the money, however the ending isn't really surperb. Hopefully they will make a movie to end the show right.
