Amazon.com "When you look at me, what do you see?" pontificates football star Joe Kingman, then provides the answer: "Greatness." Well, clearly an ego like that needs to be brought down to size--pint-size. The winning family comedy The Game Plan has a whole lot going for it, including star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who's a natural comedic actor (and the camera loves him), and the young actress (Madison Pettis) who plays the daughter he didn't know he had, Peyton. The plot doesn't break much new ground, since many films have mined the territory of the self-indulgent child-adult who suddenly "inherits" a child (from Three Men and a Baby to Baby Boom to Big Daddy to Raising Helen). But thanks to the charismatic performance of Johnson, the film is winsome and uplifting. Johnson's comic timing and straight-man face are spot-on, as is his warm chemistry with the sweet-faced Pettis. Also giving notable performances are the lovely Roselyn Sanchez as Peyton's ballet teacher, and Kyra Sedgwick as Kingman's hard-nosed agent who's aghast at the appearance of an out-of-wedlock child. Children and adults both can enjoy the movie's warm-and-fuzzy moral of making family where you find it--or where it finds you. --A.T. Hurley

Awesome Family Fun!!! February 1, 2010 Pumpkin Man This is a very funny movie for the whole family. Dwayne Johnson stars as Joe Kingman. Joe is the quarterback to the Boston Rebels Football team. A month before the big game, Joe gets the shock of his life; he has an eight year-old daughter named Peyton Kelly. At first, he is very reluctant to having her around because she's really hyper, but he soon grows to love her. I highly recommend THE GAME PLAN!!!
Long as HECK! January 10, 2010 K. Reddick (Phoenix, Arizona) This movie is so satisfying! I loved every moment of it! The actors really worked it in this movie. I have to watch it again today. Wow! Just simply nice. I can not find any other way to express it. Nice. Nice. Nice. ( This one, I can't give away any story lines too).. It is simply wonderful and great for the entire family to enjoy together. A few tears but a lot of laughs.
Family Favorite December 30, 2009 W. Vasquez (Los Angeles, CA) I have an 8 year old son, 4 & 5 year old daughters, and they all love this movie. There are some adult situations and content that I could do without, but they are not gratuitous and not much different than what my kids are exposed to at parties or gatherings where adults are involved, especially during the holidays. My kids are a little more interested in football, thanks to this movie. It was not my intention but I'll take it!
The Game Plan December 26, 2009 Arnita D. Brown (USA) This movie was very cute and actually pretty funny. This is a adorable movie. Perfect movie for the whole family to see.
The Gameplan Uses Every Cliche In The Book December 25, 2009 YJM (Somewhere In The South) So normally a movie like this not something at all I would watch, but my girlfriend wanted to see it because she thinks the Rock is "hot!" So I acquiesced and watched it with her. It's not a good sign when a girl who cry's at every chick flick every made doesn't like this movie.
We all know the Rock couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, so I was expecting bad acting. But I was little surprised to see how unabashedly this movie was in its attempt at emotional manipulation. Some examples: Cute little girl almost dies, cute dog who barks on cue at all the right moments, big strong dad finds his feminine side with the help of his daughter, mother who we later learn died in a car crash and thus the reason for the little girl running away, big strong dad's daughter is taken from him once it is discovered she lied about staying with him, the big ending cliched football game where big strong dad's football team is losing the championship game terribly due to his depression and surprise, his daughter shows up just at the last minute to save the day!
There is no creativity in this film whatsoever. These formulaic movies must be cranked out from the same movie making factory, only the characters and names get changed. I'm sure a lot of people went easy on this film because it's under the banner of "family entertainment" but I don't care, a bad movie is a bad movie. This movie insults the intelligence of every kid who sees it, as well as the unfortunate parents forced to watch it as well. There are plenty of well made family films, this is not one of them.
P.S. This movie is so bad I think my girlfriend lost her crush on the Rock because of it.
