    Product Description
The best-selling videogame HITMAN roars to life with both barrels blazing in this hardcore action-thriller starring Timothy Olyphant (Live Free or Die Hard). A genetically engineered assassin with killer style and deadly aim known only as "Agent 47" eliminates strategic targets for a top-secret organization. But when he's double-crossed on a mission the hunter becomes the prey as 47 finds himself ensnared in a life-or-death game of international intrigue and violent retribution.System Requirements:Running Time: 94 minutesFormat: BLU-RAY DISC Genre: ACTION/ADVENTURE/CRIME UPC: 024543502999 Manufacturer No: 2250299

It's hard not to feel like one has entered a certain dimension of video-game logic while watching Hitman, a lightly enjoyable action-suspense movie indeed based on a popular and bloody game about a mysterious hired gun with a bar-code tattoo on his bald head and a number (47) in lieu of a name. Living like a chaste monk while slipping past borders to kill his targets, 47 (Timothy Olyphant of Deadwood) moves like a determined shark and speaks softly to his contact at the enigmatic "the Organization," which raises cast-off children to become well-paid assassins. Fruitlessly pursued by an Interpol cop (Dougray Scott) who can never get sovereign governments to cooperate, 47 has no trouble slipping in and out of countries to ply his trade. Until, that is, he's set up to take a fall in Russia by shooting a national leader who is promptly replaced by a lookalike double. Suddenly on the run, 47 has to retrace his steps and formulate a lethal plan for extricating himself from a trap. Caught in the chaos is the lovely Nika (Olga Kurylenko), forced into sex slavery by 47's new enemies and the one person who seems uniquely qualified to break through 47's many personal barriers. Directed by France's Xavier Gens, Hitman features loads of bloody mayhem and unabashed moments of pulp absurdity, such as a scene in which 47 and three other Organization killers agree to fight one another respectfully, then proceed to pulverize each other with swords and fists. As fodder for gamers, however, Hitman is packed with visuals and dramatic moments that seem so odd on the big screen until one realizes they are basically placemarkers for the video-game edition. --Tom Keogh

3 out of 5 stars The Bald and the Beautiful   September 30, 2008

I actually had some expectations from this movie, I'm a big fan of the lower budget and simple action flick, and the trailer actually had me very interested. Let me also say that I don't play video games and even though I'm very well read this video-game just isn't popular enough for me to know much about, unlike say earlier adaptations like doom or Mario etc, or the coming Halo.

The movie basically follows the formula take a popular video game, make it into a 100 min script, put in a decent actor, a hot exotic chick, and stuff it full of guns, explosions and a bunch of good one liners. Yet somehow this movie fell bellow my expectations, and I have a feeling the Censor Board had lot to do with, scene after scene of gratuitous violence and nudity fell pray to their hypocritical morality. So much so that even some of the dialogues that i saw in the teasers were butchered.

Despite this fact there is no doubt that the film has its weakness' such as:

1). Lack of a good villain, a staple of older movies nowadays its hard to come across a good one, a powerful hero needs a powerful hero to really shine.

    2). No really big scenes.

3). Weak and much rehashed script, almost everything has been seen on film before.

4). Timothy Oliphant? While I agree he does have charisma and did carry of his role quite well there is no doubt in my mind that it could have been much better, he was good in the cool parts, but he just didn't look menacing enough when he had too.

Beside that, Olga looks smoking hot even with the punk look, when she dresses up she crosses over into the amazing territory, too bad the censor board cut of most of her hot scenes, but she was one of the best things about this movie. Some of the one liner are really good, especially good were the conversations between Olga and 47. Other than these things this movie is quite good.

    4 out of 5 stars Hitman   September 22, 2008
A real shoot em up. Not for the squeamish as there are plenty of blood highlights. Action packed and loaded. Not for kids.

    4 out of 5 stars entertaining   September 15, 2008
Hitman is simple entertainment and this is what it does - it is entertaining. The movie is simple (sometimes questions are raised - how does he never get shot)but do you care?

I have not seen all the extras yet but there are some. The idea of the extra disc so that you can transfer your film seems to have no function to me at all. I should have read the reviews more carefully but to call it a two-disc special edition is tenuous at best

If you want simple entertainment - buy it as a single disc?
