About a year ago I accused Leelee Sobieski's film `In A Dark Place' as being the most shameless fan service film ever. Now `Walk All Over Me' takes the prize.
Any film with a title and cover box like this that stars Leelee is enough to make one foam at the mouth in anticipation. So to answer that question, yes we do get see Leelee in sexy S&M outfits including Nazi erotica. (Let's revisit that scene in `Uprising.')
The plot: Leelee stars as a teenage Gerald Ford klutz living in rural Canada. On a whim she escapes to Vancouver to live with her (older sister?) Celine whom works as a dominatrix.
Leelee seeks to earn some extra money and works up the courage to meet one of Celine's clients Paul. But the night goes awry as criminals arrive at Paul's house looking for their stolen money.
Celine and Leelee end up getting long long long and drawn out stand off with the criminals. The dialogue and story for the last half of the film are very lacking, making us question, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? Why would someone make this story?
Why are we watching? Leelee really does pull this whole mess together. She is the entire film. In every scene. We love Leelee not only because she's gorgeous but because of the way she is. She plays extremely well as a klutz who fails at everything she does and just can't catch a break but at the same time she's beautiful and wearing leather and lace. The scene where she "dominates" Paul at a mall food court by simply asking him the buy her ice cream and then works up the courage to put collar on him are what make this film. It is unfortunate that the film is burdened by so many bad and boring characters.
The fan service is extremely heavy. We have to see Leelee bounce around in Nazi erotica and twirl her long hair in slow motion. When she runs in a push up bra, slow motion. How exactly was this sold to producers? "We want to make this bad screenplay into a movie that will feature Leelee Sobieski bouncing in slow motion." That would sell me. A special feature is audio commentary by the writer/director and Leelee.
The production quality is extremely high. The directing and music score very noteworthy.

That is what you get. Nothing to brag about, hard to believe anybody can be that stupid. Even the deleted scene (1) was worthless. These is some skin in this movie so you would think the deleted scene had skin. Nope, a deleted 2 minute fight scene. The outtakes & stills were nothing worth watching as well.
The plot was almost believable but poorly written & directed. There really wasn't any BDSM in the movie.
I give this 2 stars only because LeeLee looks hot in the uniforms. Besides that, it doesn't have much going for it. Tricia Helfer looks much hotter in Battlestar Galactica.
Surprisingly funny, and surprisingly little sex June 22, 2008

In one of the DVD special features, the director talks for a while about the human condition, the dramatic aspects of the story, and so forth. Then the interviewer asks what will get people to watch the movie. "Leelee Sobieski as a dominatrix. Tricia Helfer as a dominatrix," he says. At least he understood what movie he was making.
For a movie whose main selling point is the sex appeal of its stars, the titillation factor is surprisingly low and the script is surprisingly funny. Sobieski could easily coast on her looks but gives a convincing performance as a clumsy, dorky, walking disaster area. Helfer, best known as Cylon #6 in the TV series "Battlestar Galactica," shows that she really can act, even if she mostly needs to act exasperated with Sobieski's character. The script is sometimes a little clumsy, as in the scenes establishing Sobieski as a klutz, but it's not a major problem.
Curvy, pulchritudinous Sobieski clearly wins in the sex appeal department, even though skinny-chick Helfer is pretty and appeared in Playboy magazine. However, apart from S&M play-acting, neither displays anything you couldn't see on network television.
I did find the movie's S&M theme a little confusing. As a dominatrix, Sobieski's character goes on a date with a guy. He gives her money. She pushes him around for a while. And he doesn't get any sex. How is that different from most normal dates?
There was a minor problem with the sound. I had to turn the volume up to hear what the characters were saying. Not sure if the problem was with the film or with the DVD.
Overall, a funny movie with good performances and enjoyable eye candy. The S&M theme is really just an excuse for Sobieski and Helfer dress up and act out, but who cares? It's fun to watch.

This is about people who are sometimes in over their heads, and definitely not what they first appear to be ...
Yes, it's sexy; no, it's not a sex flick. Yes, it's about a dominatrix; no it's not a torture movie (unless you count a few tortuously funny scenes).
I really enjoyed it, but if anything, this is a film for the girls.
The guys are not wallpaper; they think on their feet and they are connected; three-dee villains are always the best. Of course they're not going to compete as eye candy, with Leelee and Tricia.
You'll probably find yourself thinking you've met Leelee Sobieski's character or someone just like that: not as smart as they think, and naive enough to thing that they're "tough". But not as dumb or naive as others might make them out to be.
I've now seen the film three times. The plot twists are fun the first time round, but the acting is what brings you back. Definitely *****.
Quirky comedic thriller June 15, 2008

This comedy thriller is a very entertaining exploration of dominance and submission in interpersonal relationships; the dominatrix setting is simply an extension of the metaphor (as well as providing great costumes for Tricia and Leelee). The film is well written, well acted with a great look and a killer soundtrack. While I don't necessarily expect everyone to find it as clever and well crafted as I do, I'm amazed to read that there are people who didn't even enjoy it. Even if you choose not to delve into the depths of the metaphor, it's still a damn fun movie on the surface!
