Amazon.com Life is a complicated journey in which right and wrong are sometimes indistinct and where the things that really matter are often unclear. Bella is a powerful, leisurely-paced film in which Jose (Eduardo Verastegui) and Nina (Tammy Blanchard) struggle to do what's right while seeking meaning in their lives. A quiet, brooding man with a dark past, Jose works as a chef in his brother Manny's (Manny Perez) restaurant where he mostly keeps to himself until young waitress Nina is fired. Touched by Manny's unfair treatment of Nina, Jose impulsively leaves work to follow Nina and spends a day with her where he discovers that she is pregnant and alone. The two become incredibly close in the space of a day, sharing their pasts, feelings, and fears, and a lasting friendship is born. As Nina struggles with her pregnancy options and Jose comes to terms with a horrific incident from his past, the pair's newfound friendship aids in growth and healing. In the end, Jose and Nina's lives become permanently intertwined in a most beautiful and unexpected way. Bella is a moving, introspective film that will inspire serious personal reflection. --Tami Horiuchi

Life Can Change in an Instant July 2, 2009 Danimal (Ohio) Bella is one of those non-Hollywood, non-blockbuster films that beautifully tells a story about faith, love, life and family. This film is better than movies with $100 million dollar budgets. The lead roles are played by Eduardo Verastegui & Tammy Blanchard. They are simply magnificent. It is about two very broken people who find a way to help mend each other. This film has been described as "a love story without romance." There is certainly chemistry between the two main characters, but this movie is more about caring with love, for another person than a typical Hollywood love story. Bella makes us think about our own lives and how events have impacted us. The film inspires hope, makes us laugh and cry. I highly recommend this film. Part of me believed that films like this just weren't made anymore. In a way, Bella is a "throw-back" to the great films from the 40's and 50's. I am so glad that someone is making films again that tell a beautiful story, so very well.

So many stories are sad accounts of how not to deal with sorrows of life. They are stories with no hope nor joy to be found. This is a story that tells us "how" to deal with the struggles of life. It is a story of hope, forgiveness and love. I love this movie.
Too Little Too Long May 25, 2009 Juana V. Webman (Los Angels, CA USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
So boring. So empty. The tedious food scenes. The kindergarten dialogue. The drawn out visuals. The pretending that there is a "new" perspective on the eternal dilemma between abortion and adoption and life; there is nothing new, only the same painful anguish of the predicament. What most upset me was the ridiculousness of attributing such high guilt and shame to the most innocent accident. There is no fault, no responsibility; only an accidental tragedy and yet we are supposed to believe that the driver had to go to prison for four years? Please! All together a complete waste of time.
Beautiful Story May 14, 2009 Mary A. Abell (Portland, OR USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a story based upon situations which occur in real life. It brings out what's truly important and how healing can be found by helping another. You won't forget it.
Boring Propaganda May 8, 2009 Dayne R. Wahl (Delmar NY USA) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I thought this looked like an interesting indie film with an "interesting twist" described on the back. As I watched this film I could barely get through the boring "ordinary day" between Nina and 'Jesus' as they had pointless scenes in NYC that had nothing to do with the plot. The whole film is about pro-life and pro-adoption. That isn't necessarily a bad thing but when you just create a propaganda film without a story it is revolting. Please think of a plot and compelling story before attaching a message at the end of a boring, predictable, and pointless 90 minute film.
