Amazon.com Click is a high-concept, low-brow variation on It's a Wonderful Life that will have Adam Sandler fans laughing even as it leaves Frank Capra spinning in his grave. In their third collaboration (after The Wedding Singer and The Waterboy, Sandler and director Frank Coraci aim at the lowest common denominator and consistently hit their target, from scary casting (David Hasselhoff as Sandler's shallow, sexist boss; Sean Astin in a tight red Speedo) to a rancid menu of fart jokes, fat jokes, oversexed dogs, and other attempts at humor that rarely rise above the level of grade-school pranks. Sandler's "family comes first" sentiment somehow manages to survive the onslaught of rude, crude attitude that Sandler brings to his role as Michael Newman, a workaholic architect who learns the hard way that, well, family comes first. This happens after Newman gets a magical remote control from Morty (Christopher Walken, the film's one and only highlight), an eccentric oddball in the "Beyond" section of a Bed, Bath & Beyond store who's a devilish version of Wonderful Life's benevolent guardian angel. But Sandler's no James Stewart as he uses his techno-marvel (complete with a DVD-like "life menu") to fast-forward through his life's most unpleasant moments, only to realize that he's been missing lots of good stuff, too. With Kate Beckinsale as Newman's neglected wife, impressive older-age make-ups by Rick Baker and a lot of digital wizardry to beef up the humor, Click won't disappoint Sandler's established fan base, and its $40 million opening weekend offered ample proof that Sandler's box-office clout remains remarkably consistent.--Jeff Shannon
Product Description A harried workaholic, Michael Newman (Adam Sandler) doesn't have time for his wife (Kate Beckinsale) and children, not if he's to impress his ungrateful boss and earn a well-deserved promotion. So when he meets Morty (Christopher Walken), a loopy sales clerk, he gets the answer to his prayers: a magical remote that allows him to bypass life's little distractions with increasingly hysterical results. But as Michael gleefully mutes, skips and scans past his family and his friends, the remote gradually takes over his life and begins to program him, in this fast, funny and out-of-control comedy adventure.

One of the best adam sandler movies! November 20, 2009 Suzanne Donato (USA) One of the best adam sandler movies! its sooooo funny but at the end sad then happy its so good!
Funny, but NOT appropriate for children! November 17, 2009 Work-at-home-Mom (Indiana, United States) I rented this DVD based on the silly commercials I had seen about a guy who could fast-forward or mute through the parts of his life he didn't want to mess with. Looked like a fun family night movie. BOY, was I WRONG about the family part! We sat down with our 10-year-old and found ourselves watching a movie full of hilarious ADULT situations. From the busty nymphomaniac friend whose three divorces resulted from her cheating on her husbands with their brothers, to the series of family dogs shown "humping" a stuffed duck, to "fast-forwarded" sex scenes, a light-hearted romp through the main character's actual conception and birth and ensuing comments about the size of his male parts....LOTS of things I really didn't want to have to explain to my grade-schooler. Had it just been my husband and I, we would have watched it to the end. With our child in attendance, however, we turned it off at about the halfway point and popped in a Disney flick. The movie is rated PG-13, but I think should definitely have been rated R. It could have been done without all of the adult situations and been a great family movie about priorities and accountability. The producers, however, chose to make this a raunchy adult romp in line with Caddyshack or Animal House.
Underrated October 23, 2009 James A. Strong (Atlanta, Georgia United States) Frank Capra ("It's A Wonderful Life," "It Happened One Night"), meet Adam Sandler. Many movies with low humor strive to have a heart (e.g., the entire "American Pie" series), but most seem like they're trying too hard to have it both ways. "Click" actually succeeds in finding that right middle ground. It also helps that it works from a clever premise and explores its possibilities quite nicely.
Sandler, entering middle age begrudgingly and incorporating what he has learned from his dramatic turns in "Punch-Drunk Love" and "Spanglish," tries tapping into a more universal theme (workaholic needs to learn that his family is more important than his job) and entertain his core audience at the same time. Like the movie itself, he pulls it off. Thanks in no small part to a strong supporting cast--led by Kate Beckinsale as his long-suffering wife; Christopher Walken as an unusual angel in disguise who provides him with a universal remote that can control much more than his appliances, and gives him warnings about it that go unheeded; Jennifer Coolidge as a philandering, self-absorbed family friend; Julie Kavner (the voice of Marge Simpson) and Henry Winkler as his parents; and yes, even David Hasselhoff (who seems to be having even more fun poking fun at himself these days than William Shatner) as his clueless boss, among others--and some astute soundtrack choices at key moments, "Click" is one of those rare movies that finds a balance between comedy and drama: It tickles your ribs by appealing to the side of you that still laughs at juvenile absurdity while also appealing to the side of you that has had no choice but to grow up and face the numbing, endless stressors of grown-up life.
