Amazon.com The good news is, yes, Jennifer Lopez can do comedy. In The Wedding Planner Lopez is Mary, a lovable woman who believes "those who can't do, teach. Those who can't wed, plan!" Her slapstick moments are lighthearted and she is spot-on as the controlling, compulsive-yet-sweet planner. The bad news is Lopez didn't get much of a vehicle in which to test drive her newfound comedic skills. Mary's life is her career. Planning other people's weddings takes all of her time, leaving no room for a love life of her own. Her only personal life is a Scrabble club, to which she and her father (Alex Rocco, whose wandering Italian accent is painful to listen to) belong. When a handsome young doctor (Matthew McConaughey) saves her from a collision with a runaway dumpster (really, it works), she is instantly wooed by his quiet charm. Too bad he's the fiance of Mary's biggest client, Fran (played winningly by Bridgette Wilson-Sampras), the job that will launch Mary as a partner in her firm. The main problem with this film is that no one wants to hurt anyone else's feelings. Everyone is just so gosh-darn nice. In a subplot, Mary's father is trying to arrange her marriage to just the nicest Italian boy. Gee, he's sweet. Golly, Fran is nice. Is there ever a way out of this mess and to leave everyone smiling? Yet, there is a touch of old-fashioned romance to this wholesome film, which can only be described as "cute." And while things may unfold in a predictable manner, The Wedding Planner is still lighthearted fun of the sort that inspires dreamy romantic thoughts. --Jenny Brown

wedding planner May 19, 2009 Chris Benson I had it on vhs so have upgraded to DVD. I believe this is a chick flick but I find it entertaining never the less. I am a guy who likes Lopez and if that isn't enough there is the blonde for the rest of you. Somewhat irregular story line, like getting his hand glued to the statue's genitals or the two guys riding the scooter through the bikers with the "just married sign" on the back was very humerous.
Romantic Fool May 5, 2009 Romantic Fool (West Hollywood, CA. USA) I love this movie. I can watch it over and over. Helps me forget for 2 hours all my woes and believe in love. What can I say, I'm a Romantic Fool.
Boring, Corny and Predictable September 30, 2008 Alissa L. Stone (Jacksonville, FL USA) This movie was not good. Not good at all. I even watched this movie a couple of times, just to give it another chance and both times regretted it. It seemed like both characters were trying too hard to act, the lines were corny as well as alot of the scenes. I think I would have liked this movie better if they had different actors for the main characters. Jennifer Lopez is a ok actress, the only movie I have really ever liked her in was Selena. Matthew McConaughey is an overrated actor, even though I think he is quite handsome he is seriously lacking in he acting skills department.
Great Movie April 23, 2008 A. Soto (Fort Irwin, CA) Awwww, I love this movie. You will definitely laugh through out the movie. J-Lo really does a great job in this movie. Oh and can't forget the handsome Matthew McConaughey! I would recommend this movie to everyone. Even your kids can watch this one!

Mary Fiore is the wedding planner extraordinaire. Since she has always been unlucky in love, she decides that those that can't wed - they plan! While crossing the street, her heel becomes lodged in the street grate. As she tries to free it, a dumpster comes loose heading her way. In the nick of time, she is pushed out of the way, but hits her head on the pavement and looses consciousness. When Mary comes to, she finds out that handsome Dr. Steve Edison saved her. Her assistant sets up a date for them that works out very well except when he begins to kiss her it starts to rain. The next time that she sees Dr. Steve is when - surprise surprise - she meets the groom of the current wedding she is planning. Mary vows to remain distant and to plan the best wedding for Fran and Steve, but the heart wants what the heart wants. This is a very entertaining and heartfelt movie. Jennifer Lopez is wonderful and Matthew McConaughey is sexy and charming. What great chemistry they have on screen!
