The best of the best of the best June 2, 2009 Richard Franks (Arcadia, Calif) Triple "A" comedy with no slow moments. A little sexy for younger audiences but most of the "sexy" humor will be lost on the kids. A great way to while away an evening with popcorn.
men in black 2 May 8, 2009 Matthew S. Adamko (Maryland,USA) ay movie with tommy lee jones, and especially will smith, is destined to be a pretty good movie
Legitimately entertaining all these years later April 17, 2009 Howlinw (California, USA) The sci fi genre hasn't been too kind to us humans. Our cities have been torched by alien spaceships or death rays, stomped on by monsters, flooded, frozen, flooded and frozen, attacked by ancient demons, subjected to diseases that turned many residents into zombies...you get the picture. Global destruction has been threatened - and narrowly averted - many a time as well. Chalk it up to boredom and/or appreciation for the vivid imagination of certain members of the directorial community, but audiences flock to see fictional representations of themselves menaced by all sorts of threats. Honestly, and I say this with the knowledge that I have been one of these audience members more times than I can count, it can get a little old. When this movie came along there wasn't a whole lot like it out there in the sci fi canon. The closest thing was Ghostbusters, a classic 80s comedy that set the tone for future cinematic ventures into the realm of tongue-in-cheek sci fi/supernatural humor. MiB takes the same happy-go-lucky comedic formula one step further, imagining a world where aliens walk among us disguised as "regular" (or irregular as the case may be) people. The possibilities with this concept were/are virtually limitless, and the film does a good job exploring them while reining in any tendencies to stray too far from the plotline. It can be a tad formulaic at times but the originality and creativity that is evident outweighs the film's obvious flaws. The sci fi genre needs Spaceballs, Ghostbusters and MiB just as much as it needs The Day The Earth Stood Still, the Star Trek movies or Independence Day. None of it should be taken too seriously, but at least with this film and its thematic kindred, you probably won't be the only person in the theater chuckling at what's happening onscreen.
Why I bought this edition March 3, 2009 Gueorgui Lazarov Stoychev I'm taking this opportunity to opine not only to say that the movie is great fun, it's worth buying to check this out, but also to say that sometimes the Full Screen edition of a movie is a thousand times better than the Widescreen. Sometimes a studio or director decide to film in 35 (Full Screen) and then somebody decides to chop off the bottom and top of the movie in order to make it Widescreen and thus remove like 25% of what one can see. Other movies are filmed in Widescreen and then mutilated to Full Screen for the DVD edition by chopping off the left and right sides. There are tens of thousand such cases which I can't mention here 'cause of lack of space. There are even cases in which nor the Full Screen or the Widescreen give you the whole filmed image of the movie. The bottom line is that I BOUGHT THIS EDITION BECAUSE IT IS FULL SCREEN AND I HAVE MORE IMAGE TO WATCH. The only way to discover this, for the time been, is by having a movie on a DVD and compare the image whenever one can catch the movie on TV. Don't always trust the info on the back of the DVD box. Again, Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith team in a sci-fi action comedy that can entertain just about anybody. Excellent CGIs and FXs as well a touch of human feelings and the possibility that ... we're not alone.
WILL SMITH!!! February 4, 2009 This is Will Smith's best movie ever. Great special effects and very funny. The only reason this was rated PG-13 is that they don't stop swearing, beginning to end. GO WILL SMITH!!
