Fills me with a profound sadness September 8, 2010 Smithy (Newton Upper Falls, Ma United States) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
It really fills me with such disappointment that so many people do not understand evolution. US science curriculum NEEDS to change.
Intelligently Executed! August 31, 2010 David W. Faulkner (Knob Noster, MO United States) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
A test of whether an idea is based on fact or on faith can be seen by how people react to ideas that contradict their idea.
Case in point, why are evolutionists so threatened when someone espouses an idea or even facts and figures that contradict the validity of Darwinian evolutionary thinking? This film takes a serious look at the validity of evolution, the cencorship of ideas or people that contradict or even just mention Intelligent Design as a possible theory, it asks questions about humanistic and fascist regimes and their reliance upon evolutionary thinking to propogate their pogroms or genocidal acts, and presents it in a light hearted manner.
One of my particular favorite scenes is the computer generated activity within a living cell that shows how even the tiny cell is a micronized factory, making and recombining protiens and RNA. Truly a person has to believe in and accept "evolution" on blind faith! And the person who attacks SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE that disproves evolution calling it "propaganda" had better look in the mirrior first before casting stones against the truth!
Ben Stein, Champion of Pseudoscience August 30, 2010 A. Scott 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Intelligent Design a.k.a. Creationism is NOT science. ID was deemed unscientific by the courts and, very wisely, not allowed
to be taught in public schools along with earth science and biology. Stein gets all up in arms with valid scientists for not accepting a ridiculous pseudoscience and this serves only to expose him as a fool. Superstition has no place in serious scientific endeavors and this is why ID, Creationism or whatever they will call it next is routinely dismissed by the scientific community. Scientist do not have to put up with untestable ideas that are not rooted in real science. There should be no equal time here, as this would be stretching 'political correctness' to a perverted extreme. What's next? Will Ben produce another documentary that suggests science should accept Scientology's "theories" of our beginnings? Hey, they have an opinion here too! Why not include them? If anyone is having trouble answering these questions here's a hint: these are just opinions and ideas and not bonified scientific theories based on evidence, facts and laws that can be independently tested, corroborated and confirmed by the scientific method.
Expelled for poor argument August 17, 2010 JC 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Expelled did not present any evidence supporting ID, Ben Stein just wasted an hour-and-a-half of my time saying "EVOLUTION BAAADDDD!" while beating his chest. Borrow Expelled from your library or stream it from Netflix for free, but don't waste your hard earned money on this shoddy movie.
Excellent Expose August 2, 2010 Lover of books worth reading 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I almost can't get enough of this documentary- it blows me away every time I watch it. Stein did an excellent job of introducing viewers to this frightening trend in our scientific community which unfortunately is in absolute accord with the overall anti-religious direction of American culture. The revelation that the squelching of intelligent design theory is really a fear-based reaction against the reality of God is refreshingly candid. The only possible reason I can think of for not liking this film is if you're as fear-filled an evolutionist as the ones in the film and are threatened by a reasonable (and if you'd have the integrity to assess ID unbiasedly you'd see that it IS reasonable) challenge to your theory.
