This sequel to 1984's rip-snorting romantic-adventure, Romancing the Stone, is a moderately entertaining tale that pales by comparison to its predecessor. Romance novelist Kathleen Turner and retired soldier-of-fortune Michael Douglas return as a now-complacent couple. Bored with life on a yacht, they find excitement thrust upon them when she accepts a speaking engagement in the Middle East. Once there, she is abducted and finds herself involved with the "jewel" everyone is chasing. Douglas teams up once more with Danny DeVito to rescue his love. Less charming and more predictable than the original, this suffers for one simple reason: the characters have nowhere to go. In the original story we watched Turner blossom from timid storyteller to lusty adventuress. In this flick she is too much like all the other action adventure babes we've seen before. --Rochelle O'Gorman

Definitely not as good as the first, but still worth watching. I loved Romancing the Stone, and seeing what comes after Joan's "happily ever after" was fun.

it has lots of action and romance in it. if u have watched the first movie romancing the stone. you will need to watch the jewel of the nile.the extras on this was great.a must have for your collection.michael douglas and kathleen turner were great.

While the chemistry is there between the principal characters, the plot is just ...thing and has moments that are forced for some over the top action and little substance.

Although I like this movie, I like Romancing the Stone much better. I don't find myself watching this very often but still wanted it in blu-ray. I was disappointed with the video and audio quality of this movie as well as Romancing the Stone. They both are about the same quality in that regard. I was expecting more. Although better than standard dvd it is slightly below average in blu-ray quality.
