Product Description Movie DVD
Amazon.com Breaking up is hard to do--but that doesn't mean you can't have some belly laughs about it. Forgetting Sarah Marshall provides that rare treat: a romantic comedy about breakups, that is both romantic and funny. The laughs, especially from writer-star Jason Segel, are both heartfelt and raunchy, and the film is just unexpected enough that it keeps the viewer's attention till the end. The touches of producer Judd Apatow, who's famously retooled rom-coms to appeal to guys as much as women, are woven throughout the film, but Segel's script, reportedly based on many of his own experiences, is fresh and original. And adult. Forgetting Sarah Marshall features male genitalia laffs presented in unexpected and human ways (the nude breakup scene is played for giggles but also deep poignancy), and the language and sex scenes are strictly for grownups--and rightly so. Segel's script, and his performance as Peter, show that he understands the true nature of adult relationships, which provides the refreshing difference between this film and some of Apatow's other crude creations. The cast is sublime; Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) plays title character Sarah, a self-absorbed actress, and Russell Brand is her new British honey who accompanies her to--what are the chances?--the exact same Hawaiian resort as Peter, who's nursing his broken heart. Mila Kunis plays Rachel, the resort employee who gives Peter a reason to hope, and Paul Rudd is the surfing instructor who gives him his own brand of heartfelt advice ("When life gives you lemons, just say 'F--- the lemons' and bail," he says cheerily). The pacing is screwball, and the absurdities fly (a "Dracula" musical puppet show, and a surprisingly lovely Hawaiian version of "Nothing Compares 2 U"). Nothing the viewer will forget any time soon.--A.T. Hurley

LOVE THIS MOVIE February 6, 2010 J. Sutera (Staten Island, NY) This movie is probably one of the funniest I have seen. I bought it b/c I cannot stop watching it. Get this movie. you'll enjoy it a lot
Forgetting Sarah Marshall Blu Ray Review February 3, 2010 Chris May (Paoli, PA) This is a very funny movie and it looks just fine on blu ray. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall January 30, 2010 SimMoon (Versailles, KY USA) Without a doubt, this was the funniest movie I saw in 2009. It totally ROCKED! Jason Segel's genius was a happy surprise and the cast couldn't be beat. For a very mature subject that is fun and witty, I recommend this movie to everyone who needs a good laugh.
Decent comedy that Russell Brand takes up a notch January 12, 2010 K. Swanson (Austin, TX United States) Sometimes the extras on a dvd tell much; here they reveal a huge amount of improv on many of the actors' parts, especially Rudd, Hill and the truly special Brand. I hadn't seen him before this flick, and for me he completely outshines the rest here.
The original premise is ok, if familiar, and Segel, Kunis, and Bell are good enough, if nothing new. Segel's script set himself up nicely in Hawaii, starring in his own fantasy, but it's Russell Brand who steals the show. Watching him crack up the cast and crew on the extras shows how much his vibe infected the set; he's lightning fast and adds a level of intelligence that lifts this above all the other Apatow Factory comedies except the first and still best, 40 Year Old Virgin. Brand is just plain funny to watch; his take on male arrogance is perfect, and the new agey stuff is priceless.
All in all, a good movie made near-great by a comic genius whom I can't wait to laugh at in another dozen films.
If they ever remake Withnail And I as a musical, here's the guy!
Jason Segel's Crying Game January 2, 2010 David Baldwin (Philadelphia,PA USA) Writer-star Jason Segel must be a genius. He concocts a film for himself that places him in the lush Turtle Bay in Hawaii and his love interests in the flick are hotties Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell. Seriously, this is another inspired comedy from the Apatow factory that explores modern living in this case breaking up and rebounding from a relationship. I can relate because years ago I had a bad break-up with a girl I dated from work. It's painful enough and then you have to see this person every day. Learning from this I subsequently met my wife at work. As I type this I'm wearing a garish sweatshirt she got me for Christmas. All kidding aside, Segel much like Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd, who makes an appearance here, is a comic force to be reckoned with. These guys are resuscitating screen comedy as we know it. The film is also peopled with impressive up-and-comers like Bill Hader, Russell Brand, Jonah Hill, and Jack McBrayer. If you're looking for the future of film comedy look here and Segel's impressive follow-up, "I Love You, Man".
