Amazon.com Commitment can be a scary concept, especially when it means "forever and ever." When Open Season concluded, Boog the bear and the domesticated dog Mr. Weenie had run off into the woods to join the wild animals and buck Elliot had become smitten with doe Giselle. Open Season 2 opens with a nervous Elliot and a beaming Giselle about to take their wedding nuptials, while Mr. Weenie is being enticed back to captivity by a trail of dog biscuits. Rationalizing that he's a good friend above all else, Elliot leaves Giselle at the altar and sets out to save Mr. Weenie. Boog, McSquizzy, Buddy, and the rest of the forest gang join Elliot on his quest, followed by Giselle who quickly proves invaluable to the team. New characters Roberto, Fifi, and a host of other domestic pets try to convince Mr. Weenie that sacrificing some freedom is a small price to pay for being loved, but in the end only Mr. Weenie can decide which is the right world for him. Likewise, Elliot must decide whether marriage entails more commitment than he can handle. Open Season 2 has some funny moments, but the plot is fairly weak and it's just not as good as the first movie. The kids that previewed the film found it entertaining, but preferred the original Open Season, and most parents will probably be just as happy skipping Open Season 2. Bonus features include 14-minutes of voice talent interview footage (with mostly new voice talent since few actors returned for this second film), 5 fairly basic DVD games, and a "how to draw" Boog, Elliot, and Fifi tutorial. There are also 3 storyboarded deleted scenes and Baha Men's "Who Let the Dogs Out" music video. (Ages 3 and older) --Tami Horiuchi Stills from Open Season 2 (click for larger image)

Total Dud - Don't Waste Your Time or Money January 18, 2010 1gringofromLA (West Covina, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. After watching all three of the Ice Age movies repeatedly (my son's favorites), I was expecting the same level of storyline, humor, animation, voice-overs, etc. Open Season 2 doesn't even come close. I'm sorry I wasted the money on it and will probably put it back up for sale. There is some inappopriate sexual innuendo and a scene in the beginning in which the animals in some sort of twisted game throw live bunnies at each other. I don't know why anyone would find that funny, and it may even traumatize some kids. My wife and I looked at each other multiple times during the movie with that, "What the he## kind of movie is this? look." Keep your money in your pocket on this one.
Totally exceeded expectations October 19, 2009 Denise Moran (Omaha, NE) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Totally exceeded expectations, much better than the first one, highly recommend, not an absolute favorite for my daughter, but she will watch it if I put it in, very friendly and kid friendly, nice story about friends and life
Open Season Again -- This time on a budget. October 16, 2009 lighten_up_already2 (Kirkland, WA USA) If you loved Open Season then you'll probably like seeing the characters back in action in a new adventure. Here's are some ways the sequel differs from the original:
1. No new rockin' songs in the soundtrack.
2. Backgrounds minimal and often cheesy with a cheap done-in-haste look.
3. One hour and sixteen minutes, or about as short as a movie can be and still be called a "movie".
4. Different voice actors for the two main characters (but they did OK).
5. A deleted scene that would have been great but I'm guessing was nixed because it would cost too much to fully animate.
Still, we get some character development and a happily-ever-after ending. And I'm glad they made Giselle a central character and played her off against Elliot. The story is rather fun too, as we get to meet a whole new group of pampered pets.
So, it's fun to watch a reprise of the Open Season world, but rather disappointing in that it seems corners were cut all over the place.
Boog & Elliot return October 14, 2009 David A. Smith (Webberville, Mi, USA) Boog & Elliot return in this funny animated sequel. this movie is awesome. to bad Martin Lawrence & Ashton Kutchern did'nt do this voices in this movie. oh, well it was still awesome. This is a must see.
