Would have been good! February 3, 2010 Kay A. Dority (Norman, OK, US) Loved this mini-series, but 2 or 3 DVD's did not play. I did get a refund for this,
but was disappointed I did not get to finish seeing this series.

Captains and the KingsWhen we got this DVD, the wife began to view the movie with great expectations. It was so disapointing that when she went to side two, it was blank!!! Somehow the back side of each DVD was " blank " which of course makes the bought item not worth what we paid for it. Don't think we will buy DVD's from you again. Just in case--our order ID # was: [...].
so happy to acquire January 24, 2010 Betty Diane Price (tennessee hills) at last I found the set, saw this many years ago and have been searching for a while, the price was fantastic, want to devote my attention to every minute of the epic so will take time to watch, set has been taken good care of, can"t wait to get started.
Great miniseries and with some of the best actors!! January 7, 2010 Robert Kerlen (Little Rock, AR) I was so glad that this miniseries was released on DVD as I was just getting into Taylor Caldwell's novels prior to it being released. I read the novel as well as seen the miniseries several times and never get tired of either one.
One of the best January 2, 2010 kt (Ocean Shores, WA USA) I have both read the book, watched the mini series, and own the DVD and the old VHS for this title (which I have watched multiple times)...Does that give you any idea how I feel about it?
A very well done story about the rise of an Irish orphaned child immigrant and his rise to wealth and power using any means possible. Although never acknowledged, rumor has it was losely based on the rise of Joseph Kennedy Sr., however that is only rumor, but you can definately see similarities.
Very long series, you need hours to watch it, but it is worth it. The acting was great. Be sure to read the book also, you'll enjoy it.
