Gives bad movies a bad name! February 5, 2010 Harold Edward Wills (Hagerstown, Maryland USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My intent on ordering this movie was the attraction to the "stunning visuals"...well, with my spectacular HD, didn't really see any of the above.
What was seeable was the typical "bully" style "acting" from Diesel and some strange woman floating around for whatever reason. This is what would be recommended to watch as you are being put into a coma. It definitely would prepare you for what is ahead.
Thank You January 27, 2010 Sandy Barnett Thank you for your prompt and careful attention to our order. The requested item was received ahead of time and was in excellent condition. Again thank you very much.
USED DVD January 21, 2010 Melissa A. Proctor (Baltimore, MD USA) I bought this product and it was supposed to be new. Instead it looked like a boot-legged copy inside of the box. It was a gift and I was very embarrassed.
Babylon A.D. January 10, 2010 Kevin Kesler (fpo, ap United States) My son wanted the movie for Xmas. We watched it and it was very good in my opinion.
action-packed adventure January 2, 2010 B. E Jackson (Pennsylvania) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Babylon A.D. is a pretty good action movie, but please, don't expect a compelling, thought-provoking storyline of any sorts, haha.
This is just your typical gimmicky Hollywood action movie. These kind of movies actually hold a special place in my collection of films. Why? Because despite the overall and obvious cheese factor of the entire film, these kind of movies actually never get boring to me. You expect cheese, you get cheese.
The storyline takes Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh, and Melanie Thierry all around the northern areas of Asia, such as Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and Russia. It's about Vin Diesel's character protecting a young hottie (Melanie Thierry's character, who just so happened to be born exactly 10 days after I was back in 1981) and eventually taking her back to New York City where the story concludes.
Once back in America, this is when the shooting and violence REALLY goes up, giving the film a nice slice of solid action. Melanie Thierry plays a nice role, and throughout the film you constantly wonder what makes her so unique.
It's Vin Diesel- don't expect brilliance. Just expect an hour and a half of Hollywood action storytelling and make believe violence, and then you'll be able to enjoy the movie better.
