Amazon.com Daniel Craig hasn't lost a step since Casino Royale--this James Bond remains dangerous, a man who could earn that license to kill in brutal hand-to-hand combat
but still look sharp in a tailored suit. And Quantum of Solance itself carries on from the previous film like no other 007 movie, with Bond nursing his anger from the Casino Royale storyline and vowing blood revenge on those responsible. For the new plot, we have villain Mathieu Amalric (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), intent on controlling the water rights in impoverished Third World nations and happy to overthrow a dictator or two to get his way. Olga Kurylenko is very much in the "Bond girl" tradition, but in the Ursula Andress way, not the Denise Richards way. And Judi Dench, Jeffrey Wright, and Giancarlo Giannini are welcome holdovers. If director Marc Forster and the longtime Bond production team seem a little too eager to embrace the continuity-shredding style of the Bourne pictures (especially in a nearly incomprehensible opening car chase), they nevertheless quiet down and get into a dark, concentrated groove soon enough. And the theme song, "Another Way to Die," penned by Jack White and performed by him and Alicia Keys, is actually good (at times Keys seems to be channeling Shirley Bassey--nice). Of course it all comes down to Craig. And he kills. --Robert Horton

Quantum of Solace February 8, 2010 Ronald A. Massie (san mateo, ca) DVD was excellent- as advertised. When first arrived- DVD was missing- Informed seller. It was promptly replaced. I would use this seller again. Thanks
Another male icon destroyed by feminism February 7, 2010 K. Anderson (Long Island, NY United States) Ugh, they've ruined Bond. A perfect example of our anti-male times. Sean Connery's Bond was cool, sophisticated, and smooth with the ladies, but the most important part, he was completely unapologetic about it. No groveling and apologizing for being a man. He was a "womanizer"...so? He loved women, enjoyed being with them, and they loved him back. What's the problem? He treated them kindly but didn't take any crap from them.
They began pecking away at Bond when Pierce Brosnan stepped in. As soon as I heard M say "I think you're a sexist, misogynist dinosaur", I knew we were in trouble. They had to knock him down a few notches, can't have a confident, guilt-free man walking around like that.
Now with Daniel Craig, we no longer have a man we can look up to. He's just another charmless, humorless movie thug. All Bond's qualities have been stripped from him by the feminist tyrants and their p-whipped male enablers. Bond was ours, and that bothered them. One less male icon guys can admire, and we let it happen.
My Favorite Bond February 6, 2010 Lisa Viviano (NAPERVILLE, IL, US) I never thought anyone could replace Sean Connery in my heart and mind for being the only real James Bond. Pierce Brosnan came close, but the others were a disappointment. In his second turn as 007, Daniel Craig has proven to me he IS James Bond! He seems to have been born to play the part. The story and execution of the script is exceptionally well done. There is never a dull moment. I watch this movie again and again which is rare for me.
Blu-ray disc was fine, the movie contents were a dud February 3, 2010 Davi Yavi (Pasadena, CA United States) I thought this was going to be a very good movie after watching Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. The movie was a dud. The Blu-ray disc was fine. I guess I'm writing a review for the disc, not the contents. :-) One thing I wish it included was a DVD copy of the movie.
Comment February 1, 2010 Marvin G. Wilsey (Auburn, CA) I purchase the movie to continue a collection of Bond movies, started by my young son... I haven't watched it...
