Product Description PINK PANTHER 2 THE w/BONUS DISC (DVD MOVIE)
Amazon.com "Let me bring you up to speed. We know nothing. Now you are up to speed." Thus is the bumbling, deadpan persona of Inspector Clouseau, as re-invented by Steve Martin, best summed up. In this sequel to the 2006 remake of the classic Peter Sellers films, Martin gets crisper direction and a smarter script than he did the first time out. Martin, to his great credit, has never been afraid to make himself look foolish or to take pratfalls--and if the viewer finds these remakes to be less satirical than the original Sellers films, he will still be letting our great laughs and chuckles through the course of the film. And what a cast! Martin is joined by John Cleese, Jeremy Irons, Lily Tomlin, Jean Reno, Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai, Emily Mortimer, Alfred Molina, and Andy Garcia--all of whom seem to be having a delightful romp--a feeling that’s contagious. The story picks up where the last film ended, with Clouseau’s having saved the precious Pink Panther diamond in Paris. Since then, Clouseau has been reassigned to parking-ticket duty, to keep him off the frayed nerves of Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Cleese). But a band of international thieves is wreaking havoc on the world’s treasures, and, before you can say minkey, the priceless Pink Panther goes missing, again. If plot’s a bit predictable, it’s no matter, since the phun is in the haplessness of Clouseau and the rings of nuclear fallout that surround him. And you may never pronounce hamburger the same way. Evair!--A.T. Hurley

good cast stuck in mediocre material November 26, 2009 Roland E. Zwick (Valencia, Ca USA) "Pink Panther 2" offers a second helping - as if one were needed or wanted - of Steve Martin impersonating Peter Sellars impersonating a Frenchman. In this sequel to the 2006 original (if a movie based on a 35-year-old franchise can be called original), the inept, bumbling, pratfall-prone Inspector Clouseau has signed on as part of a "Dream Team" of international detectives who are hot on the trail of The Tornado, a shadowy crime figure who's been stealing some of the world's most priceless - and heavily guarded - treasures, including the famed Pink Panther diamond.
Obviously an acquired taste, "PP2" consists almost entirely of Martin mugging for the camera, while everyone else stands around smirking and rolling their eyes in corny reaction shots. It's a witless affair, overall, but at least we get to toodle around Paris and Rome some and enjoy the work of Jean Reno, Andy Garcia, Lily Tomlin, Jeremy Irons and John Cleese into the bargain.
PINK PANTHER #2 October 11, 2009 Andy Ai (BUENA PARK, CA) EXCELLENT MOVIE; MY KID DID WATCH A LEAST 5 TIMES. WE ALL LAUGHED EVERY TIME.
reviewing pink panther 2 October 9, 2009 blu ray maniac
I buy blu rays mostly for the pq, pink panther 2 has very good pq, the movie is okay not great but good for a few laughs.
Funny movie but short in length October 8, 2009 AwakeNow.co.uk (UK) I thought the Pink panther 2 was a good film and Steve Martin who plays Inspector Clouseau was a good laugh.
Inspector Clouseau is an over-the-character and it comes out well. The incidences in Rome at the restaurant were really good as was the dancing.
A funny movie, but too short at around 1 hr 15 minutes. It is a good job that the DVD has deleted scenes and other gag reels to amke up for this.
