This epic 10-hour miniseries from the Emmy-winning writer of Gulliver's Travels was a ratings bust on television, but on video and DVD, where it can be enjoyed at one's leisure, it has a better chance to cast its magical spell. Kimberly Williams has never been more enchanting than as Virginia, a waitress who still lives with her janitor father (John Larroquette) and yearns for something exciting to happen to her. Her wish comes true when she and her father are transported from New York City into a dimension that, with apologies to Rod Serling, can only be called the Fairy Tale Zone; nine kingdoms populated by characters from fairy tales of yore. They team up with a dog who's really a prince--Wendell, grandson of Snow White--changed into canine form by the evil Queen (Dianne Wiest), who plots to usurp Wendell's throne.  What a disappointment... November 30, 2008
I'd read the book The 10th Kingdom a long time ago and just loved it. It was a great fantasy book -- one that I'd recommend for anyone into this type of genre.
I bought this DVD set about a week ago, thinking it too would become a favorite of mine (based on all the good reviews here on Amazon as well as a stellar review from a friend of mine). I have to say, though, that I was supremely disappointed by the quality of this film! Most of the acting was embarrassingly bad and the script wasn't that good, either. (The costumes and the sets, though, weren't bad--nor were the effects.) It's too bad, 'cause I think that this DVD series really could have been something fantastic.... ah well.
 So looking forward to it. October 30, 2008
i loved this mini-series when it came out, and i just had to have the dvd. and now its mine and i am extremely happy with it, thank you very much. :D

 A fairy tale of epic porportions October 8, 2008
This movie mixed present day and fantasy quite well. You fall in love with the charactors and laugh at the situations they find them selves in. Great to watch over again alone or with someone new to the mini series. imaginative and captivating.
The scene where they are in the city of love is enchanting.
Aside from being quite long for one sitting.

I have seen this movie (all 7+ hours) probably 8 times! The Tenth Kingdom is full of imagination and fun, and keeps you wanting more after its over. I can't wait to find out if there will be a sequel, the characters are so intriguing that I find myself dying to know what happens to Virginia, Wolfe, and Tony! If you like feel good adventures and fantasy, I highly recommend The Tenth Kingdom.
