Amazon.com Star Wars meets A Wrinkle in Time in this adventure of an intergalactic war and one unassuming young man who holds the key to dimensional travel, the legacy of his mysterious adventurer father. Boyish Josh Charles is the lucky Luke Skywalker stand-in, a good-natured underachiever shocked out of his lovelorn moping when gorgeous guerrilla fighter Andrea Roth takes the battle to his bedroom. Rutger Hauer is the coffee-chugging freedom fighter who is roused from retirement to fill out the trio and face dimensional mob boss Stuart Wilson to settle the fate of the universe. This obviously low budget picture makes the most of limited special effects and striking settings--notably an elevator ride that turns into a free-floating mind game hanging in space and a knock-down, drag-out finale that sends our hapless hero popping up all over the universe. Hauer makes for a surprisingly charismatic mercenary turned father figure and Charles is modestly charming, once he loses the smart-ass wisecracks. Though it reaches for a scope that's beyond its means, Crossworlds is an entertaining bit of sci-fi fluff. --Sean Axmaker

Transdimensional Warrior eh? Not bad at all. November 27, 2008 Thundering Herdsman (San Bruno, CA) I really didn't expect much from this film, but I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed so much. Somewhat of a low-budget film, that didn't really need all the advanced FX they use nowadays. What really surprised me was that this movie was made back in 1996. I could tell from the background skyscrapers in L.A. with the First Interstate Bank building - Only because I was working at Wells Fargo Bank, and we had a "Hostile Takeover" of that bank in 1996. So that First Interstate logo would soon be a memory before the year was over. Josh Charles was pretty average in your average film; which made it all the more enjoyable. He's not the super hero type. And Rutger Hauer, a little overweight from his 'Blade Runner' and Night Hawks' days, was the somewhat bumbling leader of the trio. Andrea Roth sort of reminded me of Christina Applegate. Not much more to say. A fun and simply weird science fiction adventure.
Urgh. March 4, 2008 J. Dempsey (Seattle, WA) A bit like an episode of night rider. There's less plot here than a Xena episode, but it's fun and there are a couple of fight scenes. It looks like the writer didn't think about the premise much, since there is next to no explanation (beyond what you see in the blurb on the back of the case).
Nice Sci-Fi Fantasy January 7, 2008 Thomas C. Hanna (Northern Hemisphere) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Even though I'm more of a Sci-Fi person than Sci-Fi Fantasy, Crossworlds was a nice entertaining film that kept me going without taking a break. Even though the plot was basically about a young man trying to develop into a real man, the show had it's interesting moments filled with action. I like the movie, and I will watch it again one day. A bit cheesy, but not bad October 28, 2007 Bebe Deimos (AZ, USA) Interesting movie, definitely not on the top of my list (or I'm guessing anyone else over 12), but a decent watch and it has Rutger Hauer!
Could've been better July 23, 2007 Robert Clark (Orange Park, Fl. USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Could be confusing at times and definitely needed better writers. Not a movie i recommend at all. Too bad because they had a good storyline and good actors.
