    Editorial Reviews:

    Description
This dark film noir comedy finds Dean (David Sutcliffe of TV's Gilmore Girls & Under the Tuscan Sun) obsessed with finding his hot lover Pablo (Antonio Sabato, Jr.) who went out for cigarettes and never came back. Pablo's mother is played by Sonia Braga of Kiss of the Spiderwoman. Dean's boss is played by Jennifer Coolidge of Best in Show and the American Pie films.

    4 out of 5 stars Shaved   September 11, 2008

"Testosterone" surprised me. It kept me interested throughout & provided some surprises. Director David Moreton shot the whole film in Argentina. Buenos Aires is a lovely setting and adds a fresh feel to the film. In the DVD extras, Moreton talks about when they started filming the hotel scene, he commented on how small the room was and the proprietor offered to knock out a wall to make the room bigger. One can't get more accommodating than that! I also like the brief animation sequence that introduces the film.

The film has a lot to offer. David Sutcliffe who has become a television fixture on "The Gilmore Girls" is able to carry the film. While I agree that the ending creates problems since we still need to like Dean Seagrave, Sutcliffe keeps us riveted as he pursues Pablo. Antonio Sabato Jr. who lifted ratings in the 90s for "General Hospital" has a paper-thin role as Pablo. In retrospect, if Pablo had just communicated with Dean instead of evaporating, we wouldn't have had a premise for the film.

Sonia Braga, the lovely Brazilian actress, is so perfect as Pablo's mother! After having loved her performance in Angel Eyes, it was nice to see her in a film where she's got a superb wardrobe and great makeup, which was the character.

Jennifer Coolidge who wowed me in Legally Blonde (Special Edition) adds a lot as the editor Louise. Her "shaved" line was probably the most hilarious moment in the film. I see that she's working with the director David Moreton again on a new film "The Last Stan." Leonardo Brzezicki as Marcos has a great look and handles much of his part well. Marcos is not a deep character, but he does a good job. Argentine actress Celina Font does a good job as Sofia who weaves herself into the plot.

I found this to be an interesting film with some problems in the script because of the ending. The "Crazy In Alabama" deleted scene was cute, but I can see why it was cut. The film left me wondering if Dean would ever face the consequences for his actions. I was surprised how he seemed to operate above the law for much of the film. However, while not perfect, "Testosterone" was good for an evening's entertainment. Enjoy!

3 out of 5 stars Good movie overall   May 19, 2008

I like this movie for only two reasons: the potential the plot had and how well david sutcliffe plays the character of Dean. [jennifer coolige was funny too]
the plot was a thriller and did keep you guessing for a bit. i expected something different from the ending of the movie and from some other parts of the movie. I was disappointed Dean killed Pablo. If he redeemed himself in some way, it would have been better. Pablo's response and interaction with Dean in argentina was binary and could have been a MUCH BETTER SCENE.
Marcos's acting was unimpressive(he was involved in The Glue, an intriguing bildungsroman).
anyways, there are also many positive points to the movie, the biggest of which to me, personally, is the dilineation of gay men
im sick of depiction of gay men as flamboyant wimps in glamor. this is a more masculine look ive been craving to see.

5 out of 5 stars Suprises always happen   November 24, 2007

I do not know how the title of the film was born or what part of the story the title refers to. But the film is defenitely worth to watch. A story full of suprises, good solid action and nice pictures. The story is good an gets more interesting during the film. Some realy good suprises. The charakters are interesting and the actors have some mouthwatering looks. Good entertainment.

    2 out of 5 stars Don't ! Just Rent it.   August 12, 2007

Very disappointing. If one's expecting a hot scene, you won't get it, not even a warm scene. Weak plot. The guy travels from the USA to Argentina after his lover, but he doesn't convince me. He doesn't seem to be neither in love nor suffering. He's always smirking. If one's after Sabato's toy, the scene is flash, forget it. It seems to me that, apart from very few movies, most of them suffers from a weakness in their plots, their direction, their acting. And they lack real love feeling, such as in "Just a question of love" (Fr), "Later Days" (although the main actor's acting is weak (the religious guy) ).

4 out of 5 stars HOT AND FUNNY DAVID SUTCLIFFE   July 9, 2007
4 out of 4 found this review helpful

DAVID SUTCLIFFE WAS THE SAVING GRACE OF THIS MOVIE. ACTUALLY ALL THE ACTORS WERE GOOD, BUT DAVID SHONE. HE WAS WRYLY FUNNY AND EXTREMELY HANDSOME. FORGET ANTONIO SABATO, JR., DAVID SUTCLIFFE HAS THAT APPROACHABLE LOOK AND SINCERITY THAT MAKES YOU WANT TO BELIEVE IN HIM. GREAT PLOT AND LOCATION SHOOTING. YOU COULD TELL THIS MOVIE HAD MUCH HIGHER PRODUCTION VALUES THAN MOST GAY MOVIES. THE EXTRAS WERE FUN TOO. JUST SIT BACK AND RELAX WITH THIS ENJOYABLE CAPER......
