DMPO's on broadway February 5, 2005 I. Cohen (brooklyn, ny United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is the original Dead Kennedys in their prime and it proves that they were an excellent live band. (and probably still are) many fans steer away from this because of the set list, but don't be scared; live the band pumps new life into "jock o rama" "goons of hazard" "do the slag" and "hop with the jet set" The sound isn't perfect but for a live punk show it's above par. the camera work is excellent. The crowd is energized, jumping all over the place but they don't seem to care much for Jello's in between song political rants. "Moral majority" slows the show a bit "goons of hazard" and "bleed for me" steals the show. Whatever reputation Dirk Dirkson has doesn't appear to cool here, at the end of the show instead of thanking the fans for their support he insults them. Overall this is a great DK and La punk document despite the track list and the sound.

O.K. i just got this DVD today and i haven't had the time to watch it that much, only a couple of songs and i have to say it is a great DVD. As other reviewers say, the quality is not that good, hence the 4 stars, but it's a great way to see Dead Kennedys at their best. The video isn't that good and during the songs sometimes the mic goes off, but those were the good times, when nothing was perfect, and punk was about making a statement, not selling a million albums.
Only if you love your Jello June 14, 2003 P. Bergin (Brooklyn, NY United States) 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
Pretty crummy quality, but we're talking about a 20 year old film shot in a punk rock club so what do you expect? If you're a big DKs fan, you'll enjoy this chance to see Jello's wacky antics, and it's interesting to see the mid-80s punk crowd. If you're not a big fan, you'll probably think this sucks.
Real Punk December 12, 2001 18 out of 21 found this review helpful
I was 13 when I saw this tour. My friends dad knew that my parents wouldn't let me go because it was Punk and very violent. This was back in the days of slam dancing, not the dorky "moshing" that you see now. I'm talking about hardcore punk, people were diving off of the speakers into the tightly packed crowd, one of the local punk record dealers slipped in a puddle of vomit and his prosthetic leg came off only to be thrown around until Jello stopped the show to ask that the leg be returned(it was promptly thrown on stage and the madness started up again). This was punk, real punk, like the sissy punk groups today that are more like top 40 (Green Day, Ranic etc.). The music was fast, loud, politicaly inspired and hardcore, what punk is supposed to be.If you were there or want to know what punk really is, this would be the real deal.
Punk Rock at one of its best.... August 10, 2001 PSM/Bokor (United States) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I've been an avid fan of the early Punk Rock movement since the early eighties. At 36, I still love Flipper. I bought the Dead Kennedys' DVD on a whim. I was more than pleased. This DVD captures a moment that should bring a smile to any Punker, young or old. The sound was far better than I had expected - during Nazi Punks, it did drop off a bit. Nonetheless, the show is full of energy, angst, and humor. I longed to be on the floor stage-diving with the crowd. This DVD is a must have for any true collector of Punk. I would go so far as to say that anyone who has a true interest in the art of music should add this DVD to their collection. I am comfortable in stating that this DVD can and does compare to Pink Floyd's VHS, " Live at Pompeii". What you experience is art, not just a regurgitation of notes and sounds.
