5 out of 5 stars Chucky in the Army!!!   October 6, 2008
    Jigsaw (Kentucky)
This was another childhood favorite! I remember that I got this for a Christmas present when I was little. It's been 6 years since Chucky, and now he's been brought back to life. He finds out that Andy Barclay has been placed in Kent Military School. Colonel Shelton gives everyone a hard time, especially Andy. Andy makes new friends like Tyler, De Silva, and Whitehurst. Tyler finds Chucky and Chucky figures on trying a new kid, instead of Andy. Andy knows that Chucky's back and he wants to stop Chucky from taking over Tyler's soul. A final showdown happens at a county fair, in the haunted house ride. If you love Chucky, you'll love CHILD'S PLAY 3!!!

1 out of 5 stars The weakest in the series   March 26, 2008

Child's Play 3 is nothing new on the Chucky franchise. Andy is a litte older now so Chucky needs to find someone new to possess. Chucky still uses one-liners and the death scenes are ok but once again the script is lame as screenwriter Don Mancini was asked to begin writing the third film even before the second film was released. Justin Whalin makes a horrible Andy and it's no secret his career went nowhere.

    4 out of 5 stars Child's Play 3...   March 19, 2008
    Popcicle (Los Angeles, CA USA)
I saw all Child's Play movies and they was interesting and exciting. Also Child's Play 3 had more new story and it's nicely done. unfortunately Andy was old so Chucky changed his mind and find a young kid at military
school in this movie, that's interesting. This movie was good.

4 out of 5 stars You just can't keep a good guy down!   February 27, 2008
    Micah Glynn (MN, USA)
    Film Name: Child's Play 3
    Year Made: 1991

Overview: Young Andy Barclay is now a teenager and is enrolled in a military school. Andy is told it's time for forget about dolls and the childish stories of his past, but can he forget for long? Once again a toy company is determined to put the past behind and bring back the good guy doll. In the words of Chucky, "You just can't keep a good guy down" and hes back to claim a new soul!

    The Package: 2 Stars

I love the cover with the face of Chucky on the front. Inside though, there is no inlay and only the disc. The disc pops out of the holder pretty easy and stays in place when put back in which is great. The film is in widescreen but there is no closed caption on this one. As far as extras, there is the trailer included which is great, however nothing is included beyond that.

    Spook Meter: 2 Stars

Some light spooks, mixed with tons of great Chucky humor! Their is not a whole of build up here in this film and Chucky gets on a roll pretty fast. Not really scary, but some of his one liners are some of the best.

    Gore/Violence Meter: 2 Stars

Not much blood at all, however some of the kills are pretty good. I would say the violence is pretty tame on this one but there are a few graphic scenes. One scene a guy gets his throat slashed when he tries to give Chucky a haircut that is pretty graphic, other then that, the violence is pretty mild. Hey, you can't blame Chucky, he don't like anyone messing with his hair.

    Profanity Meter: 4 Strikes

There is a lot of profanity in this film. Viewers beware!

    Sexual Meter: 1 Strike

There are no in bed, make out scenes in this film at all. No nudity what so ever. There is only one single mild kissing scene. Viewers concerned about sexual themes, have nothing to worry about watching this film.

Final Thoughts: Child's Play 3 was really great to watch when it came to Chucky! He has tons of funny sayings in this film that will make you laugh a lot. Chucky laughs a lot in this one also which always makes me bust out laughing too, what can I say, I love Chucky! So why not 5 stars?

I really enjoyed Child's Play 3, however Andy Barclay is not played by Alex Vincent in this one. Since the character of Andy Barclay is in his teens in this film, Alex Vincent was not quite old enough in real life to fit this role. Andy is now played by Justin Whalin and although he did a good job, I felt that Alex Vincent brought a very special vibe that is missed greatly. Overall though, I loved Child's Play 3 and although not 5 stars, it still was a lot of fun to watch!

Thank you for reading my review!

2 out of 5 stars Too Little, Too Soon   December 10, 2007
Joshua B. Anderson (Rock Hill, SC)
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Don Mancini (creator) has stated that this entry in the Child's Play series came too soon after the release of the second entry and was demanded by the studio (it was released only nine months after the second)that he really had no fresh ideas to give to the series. And to me, it was obvious.

The factory where Chucky was created is up and running ten years after the last Andy / Chucky dilemma. The Good Guy dolls are being created again, and during the creation Chucky's blood is luckily still going ten years later and is mixed into the melted plastic used to create the dolls; therefore he is reborn. Proof #153 that this film was rushed: Plot Holes. They don't stop there, but I won't continue going on with them.

Casting is another obvious reason. Justin Whalin takes the place of Alex Vincent as Andy. Vincent was stated as not wanting to come back for another film so the writers / producers / whoever decided to go ten years into the future with a 16 year old Andy (just only nine months after the second is released and Andy is six years old, mind you). Aside from a few "eh" moments, Justin Whalin is the only one in the cast you remotely care for or want to see.

Brad Dourif delivers Chucky's lines with total awareness, and this is where Chucky's one-liners begin to be even better. This is sort of where he be comes the anti-hero as we love him and want more from him than we do of the protagonists. And that's exactly where the fourth entry takes us.
