This video is sort of short and not as detailed as I had hoped for the price I paid. You might learn better from a friend and the manual itself. This video is not produced by Garmin, it was a little helpful in getting started. Most things will have to be learned by trial and error.

I bought a Garmin Legend Cx on a whim from a Target store. It was around the same time as the James Kim tragedy in Oregon and the three Mount Hood climbers stranded and found dead. These back-to-back incidents, where people were lost/stranded, made me realize that a small GPS device could save my life. Sufficed to say, this is perhaps the one time in my life that I became MORE pleased with something I bought as time went on (and I increased my understanding of the device and its abilities). Now, the only problem-- especially for a novice GPS user-- is all the stuff you need to know, even to get started. All the jargon, basic GPS tracking concepts, et al. Oy vey, it's all so overwhelming, and the instruction manual that comes with the GPS seems to assume the user is well-versed in both GPS and technical stuff. This is where this instructional DVD comes in. It starts with basic GPS concepts and systematically goes through all the functions of the Legend Cx, SHOWING you at each step of the way. Now, I will admit, I ain't no Einstein so I had to make several or more passes watching certain parts before I got it. If you've had a mapping GPS device you would probably want to skip this DVD, but if you are a novice to both GPS and a mapping Garmin device you might want to get hold of it.

I got it pretty cheap so I did not mind if it left me with only a few questions. A few more examples would have been nice. Also, it says Etrex Legend, but it only covered the color model which is a little different from mine.
