5 out of 5 stars The perfect match between History and entretainment   November 21, 2008

I bought season 1 when it came out although I had read about the inacuracies of the series. I was certainly impressed with the overall product so that I did not hesitate in buying season 2 via pre-order.
I must say that this has been certainly the best purchase I have made, DvD wise, this year.
I have been completely blown away by the increased quality of this installment. The more I saw the more I have to bow to the great representation of this convulsed time. When one gets used to see and read the protestant account of those times that end up with the glorious rise of Elisabeth one tends to forget and ignore the usual "bad guys" in the ultimate loosers of the Catholic faith. I have never been one to much dwell upon religion and so this fair portrayal of the disgraced Catherine and her daughter Mary has made me a staunch fan of this series, which I hope will end up covering the whole era.

Three cheers for Showtime and their amazing work!

    4 out of 5 stars A Solid Season   October 25, 2008

I really loved season 1 of The Tudors and so I ordered season 2 from Amazon UK. On Amazon UK, it was released a few months earlier than in the USA. I just finished watching it and I would have to say season 1 was a superior season but season 2 is still a good watch.

Season 2 fell prey to too much melodramatics and overwrought performances. I still did enjoy it but they really did drag the drama out. For example, you can not help but wish Cathrine would just die already instead of so many DRAMATIC(!) scenes of her withering in her bed.

I think that if you loved season 1 you will like this season. It is a good, solid season.

    "The Tudors", Season Two

    The Story Continues

    Amos Lassen

Season 2 of the historical mini-series, "The Tudors" as absolutely amazing. Everything about the program is glorious from the three dimensional larger-than-life characters to the scenery and costumes and the wonderful acting. If you liked season one, you will love season two. Season two focuses on the politics of the reign of Henry VIII and the end of Anne Boleyn. One of the outstanding differences between the two seasons is that season two clears up the historical inaccuracies that were obvious in season one.
We begin with Henry telling Anne that he will marry her and she will become the Queen of England. With the downfall of Sir Thomas More, the way is cleared for Henry's plan but Anne begins to realize that she will never sit on the throne as long as Katherine of Aragon remains alive. As Katherine slips into death, Anne discovers that she is pregnant. However when she gives birth to a daughter, her days are numbered and she becomes known as Anne of the Thousand Days. As her death becomes reality, we all realize how much she will be missed and Natalie Dormer gives a realistic and sensitive portrayal of Anne.
Johnathan Rhys Meyers as Henry and Jeremy Northam also give admirable performances in this gorgeous series.

    3 out of 5 stars NO SUBTITLES !   September 30, 2008

I bought season 1 and pre-ordered season 2 but was very disappointed to realize there were no Spanish subtitles, I like to watch it in English and read my subtitles. Also the Spanish audio track is difficult to understand. My mother tongue is Spanish.
