In Die Hard, those bad guys, led by the velvet-voiced Alan Rickman, assume control of a Los Angeles high-rise with Willis's visiting New York cop inside. The attraction of the film has as much to do with the sight of a barefoot mortal running around the guts of a modern office tower as it has to do with the plentiful fight sequences and the bond the hero establishes with an LA beat cop. Bonnie Bedelia plays Willis's wife, Hart Bochner is good as a brash hostage who tries negotiating his way to freedom, Alexander Godunov makes for a believable killer with lethal feet, and William Atherton is slimy as a busybody reporter.  Great movie experience November 16, 2008
Die Hard is written in history as one of the greatest action movies of all time and viewing it on Blu-ray just makes the experience even better. The picture has been cleaned up and looks sharp, much better than I've ever seen it. More impressive is the sound quality; Everything was very clear, from the dialogue to explosions to gunshots. The surround sound is a GREAT mix. I highly recomend this for any fans of quality action films.

This is a stunning film. It's got tension, great lines, some fantastic action and a brilliant performance from Bruce Willis. Some really gripping, edge of seat action. A great movie!

The original and the best in my opinion! See Alan Rickman in his breakout role and in his prime! Also, Bruce Willis still had some hair left! Hard to believe this movie is 20 years old.

I loved this movie when I first saw it in 1988, and I still love it today. I watch it every Christmas - which may say something about me. I don't already have to say to the legions of Die-Hard fans just how good this movie is, so I will comment on the DVD.
This is the best DVD, and hint, hint, if you look at the special features, you will see there is a longer version of the movie! Granted its only 5 minutes and because the footage was never used, it does not have the "finished" look of the rest of the film, but its a great few minutes none the less - especially if you like Alan Rickman.
I am hoping for a 20th anniversary edition, but hey, I shall enjoy this one immensely for many Christmases to come!
Action-packed thrill ride August 20, 2008
Every so often,a film comes along that resets the standard for it's genre.Die Hard did just that very thing for action films. Any film that inspires copycats and wannabes really does it's job well.Bruce Willis made a very successful transition from the small screen to the big screen as the everyday Joe forced into being the hero. This film has all the necessary ingredients to qualify it as a great action film. All you have to do is see it for yourself. Particularly well done is the performance of Alan Rickman as the chief villain, Hans Gruber. You can come up with good arguments for many action films as to which is the best all time,and this one is no exception.Well done.
